I PM'ed you.

cavusdaisy 06-23-2005 06:24 PM

I also sent you a PM about Texas A-Phi.

Sorry to Crash

I would also refrain from or show some discretion from posting the same message in other forums as well.....FYI.

Personally, I don't think it's indiscreet to say that she's looking for information on how to get recommendations from other sororities. In my opinion, she's simply maximizing her options - something we always advise PNMs to do. :)

I agree ... she posted a very nice request that I would hope would work in any of the NPC group forums. However, I'm not a southerner by any stretch and maybe there is some sort of etiquette down there?

Good luck to all the Texas PNMs!!!

I think the issue was with her titling her posts "interested in Alpha Phi", "interested in Delta Gamma" etc and just doing cut and paste with the same message over and over and changing names. You really shouldn't say you're "interested" in a certain group when what you really need is a recommendation. She had also put her full name in her posts before she edited it.

i mean i'm interested in all the sororities, which is why i'm rushing. i'm totally clueless about the ins and outs of greek life and a) i didnt know that anyone would find this offensive or in bad taste and b) i thought it would be good to post in the all the forums so it would reach more people and would would be the sense in not changing the sorority names at the top...because i am interested in each sorority- equally at this point. and my post is about potentially being a member of any of the sororities mentioned. i don't see how copy/pasting is wrong when i'm trying to reach a specific pool of people on each forum. i had no idea that posters read any other forums other than their own sororitys' (my mistake)...

the overwhelming majority of people on here have been critical and suspicious of my post (i apologize for anything truly out of line...) so i'm thinking this wasn't the right place to ask, despite what i was told. sorry to bother anyone.

thank you to all those who actually pointed me in the right direction, i truly appreciate it!

Hey ... good luck to you ... don't let the "feedback" get to you ... I'm glad you are doing your homework and getting all your ducks in a row. That's what you need to do and I KNOW that you will have fun during recruitment. Keep your open mind about the process and go get 'em!

axidalum 07-06-2005 05:51 PM

I credit you with requesting help/info. The whole greek system can seem, well, like Greek if you're not in it already. It sounds like you really understand the recruitment process better than you think, though -- being interested in all the groups at this stage. Perfect! More than a skit or an image on campus or a posting on GreekChat, it's the women you meet as you go through recruitment that should be the source of your decision. Best of luck!
