Coop, very nice digging and info!:)
It just seems overly silly to me to even raise such a stink about a Boy King who has been dead for so long. |
Personally I don't understand why King Tut is so iconic, being such a minor and frankly insignificant Pharoh, outside of the fact his was the only non-plundered tomb discovered so far... in fact even his tomb taken within context wasn't all that great either compared to the others...
Why not Thutmoses III (Menkheperre), or Netjenkhet (Djoser), or Senusret I ;) (Kheperkare), or Ramesses II (Usermaatresetepenre)? |
He was white.
Here's a photograph of King Tut addressing the Egyptian people to prove it: http://tinypic.com/65pybq |
glad to see him back.
he always seems to bring a party to the rest of the world. |

I'm going to see him and his treasure in Ft. Lauderdale.

I just went and saw the exhibit yesterday in Los Angeles. I think that they should stop promoting it as a King Tut exhibit and more as a 18th dynasty pharoahs exhibit. My favorite items were from Akhenaten's reign.
Overall it was an amazing exhibit, especially some of the jewelry he wore. |
Saw it in Chi Town Years ago.
Impressive, yes but at the same time dissapointing:( Also saw that Year All of the Most Important Showings. Can say I saw them. |

The detail on the pieces is just amazing. There was a wooden chest in the shape of a cartoche that I would love to have a replica of. And the detail on the jewelry, even if it was inlaid on the front the back of the piece was carved in just as a fine a detail as the front. For those who are anywhere near the cities where the exhibits are going to be I strongly recommended trying to see it. Also, get the audio tour it gave more detail about some of the pieces. Carolyn |
