Perp?!!

I've encountered some of various orgs via the internet. Have you ever met one personally face-to-face?

How did you respond?

NinjaPoodle 06-08-2005 09:54 PM

no, I haven't, yet.. but I've heard the stories..

ntrestednsgr 06-10-2005 10:06 PM

I have meet a few people who are members of smaller sororities and I responded by saying "hi." How should you respond? What would be the difference between them and us? Maybe I'm not understanding the title of this thread...please help.

Sorhors and folks,

I've never met any of these sorority members, however, there seems to be a lot of talk about these new organizations popping up all over the place.

Years ago, during the Greek Picnic in Phila. Summer 85' there was an organization of women wearing the following colors, yellow, orange, green, and red plaid outfits (shirts and shorts). There was about 30 to 35 ladies and they had on greek letters but I can't remember them. Then I didn't see them anymore for the following four years. I haven't gone to a Greek fest in Phila since 97.'

Yes, the Greek activity was called the Greek Picnic back then and usually only greeks and their sweetheart organizations attended.

Serioussigma made in Spring 83'

I think she meant perps as in perpetrators, people who claim to be in an organization but they aren't really.

Perps of different organizations....

Anyway, I've known a few renegades, but only one actual perp.

I know what a perp is, but this post led me to believe the creator might think those who are not members of the D9 are all frauds. If this isn't the case I will stand corrected.

Girl, what are you talking about? A perp is someone pretending to be something they are not. I wasn't talking about members of organizations outside of the D9 so you do stand corrected.

Thank you Senusret! So well spoken as always.

I see this thread is going nowhere. I just posted it because years ago I was involved with a man who was a perp when I was interested in Sigma Gamma Rho. So of course, he didn't know that I was knowledgeable of greek organizations and I didn't say anything to him until I became a member. Then I let him have it!!

I met a perp...this had to have been about 3 or so years ago. Its safe to say she'll never show her face in the Chi again, lol.

I encountered a perp in my workplace about 3 years ago. She came into the fold real easy because there was a Delta, an AKA, 2 Alphas, a Kappa, a Zeta, and myself in our department, and we welcomed her into our "NPHC Meeting". Well, everytime she spoke about herself, there were too many inconsistencies and things that just did not click. So we started asking her questions on her affiliation thinking that she could be lying on that, too. We figured her out when she announced her chapter as "Delta CHI" (with a "ch" sound, not "k"). Also, the member that we already knew said she didn't know the answer to the question that every member would know regardless of when or how she came in. She avoided us after she realized that we knew, but the member of the org she perped never told us how she addressed it.

My ex-boyfriend is an Alpha, and he encountered a SGRho perp in his workplace. She began the process at a chapter where he happens to know several sorors, but she never finished. Thank God he politely advised her to stop perping because I'd hate to think what would happen if they found her perping their beloved chapter.

I'd hate to see one at the NPHC Picnic in Atlanta this weekend. Bless 'em if they're that bold.

I recently came across a multicultural sorority perp. Now, is it REALLY that serious - to be perpin young orgs? Hmmm...

Perpin' knows no age,lol.

I guess what amazes me is that perps don't understand that they WILL be found out. I feel that the NPHC community is huge but small at the same time, someone somewhere knows somebody.

Exactly. If a someone says they're from a certain city but they don't know of one particular soror that all recently active sorors would know of, ie chapter president, former regional officer, we gonna have a problem. In Atlanta, there are three grad chapters, but only the newest of the newly transplanted sorors would not know at least one member of one of the chapters.

Honestly, I know at least one member of each org here in Atlanta, and I'm not extemely active in NPHC activities. I can easily check up on someone. But folks don't think before they perp.

For someone who likes what they see in your org, it must be that serious. There must be something wonderul enough about Theta Nu Xi that they want to pretend to be a part, but that person isn't wonderful enough to get their stuff together to really become a part of the sisterhood.

Awww! Thanks for the kind words. Let me just say that this particular perp goes pretty deep. We just found out she's a member of another org.

We were already suspicious, so we were careful with what information we gave out. Good thing too! We have reason to believe that the other org sent her in as a mole. Now, THAT, is foul.

bluethunder 06-14-2005 08:18 PM

if there are two things that irk me to no end, it is a PERP and a RENEGADE...
