Help Needed

Hey all,
My name is Nate Hayward and I am a member of Pi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc., an Asian Cultural Fraternity.

As of now, we have 19 chapters, but we are looking into how to get more alumni involvement. I personally feel that Graduate Chapters would help our organization tremendously.

I was wondering, how do you go about starting something like a Graduate Chapter? For example, how do you get people interested in it? How do you implement something like that into your National Structure, etc?

Any help would be much appreciated! Feel free to PM me or post here!

Ladygreek's post is fitting (our Founders and single-letter chapter members started the initial IOTA alumni chapters).

I would start by assessing interest in the grad./alumni chapters by speaking to alumni members of your organization about their desire to affiliate past the undergraduate level.

As for the further steps, you would probably need to (not in this order per se):

1. Establish a director/liaison for alumni affairs.
2. Develop a structure for involvement (ie: do these chapters serve as mentors to undergrads? how exactly do they do so? will there be alumni membership available to non-members or will alumni chapter members come from matriculating undergraduate members?).
3. Create the appropriate language and guidelines to be placed in your constitution, bylaws, and operating manuals.

Good luck.
