New Book Out With Lambda Chi References
Greetings, Brothers!
I just got a copy of a new Masonic book, AMERICAN FREEMASONS, that has two specific references to our Fraternity. The book's Introduction starts out with a short story about Brother Harry S Truman. Then, on page 182, there is an old "staged' photograph, captioned "Lambda Chi Alpha," showing a Pledge being "wacked' with a huge paddle monogrammed with Lambda Chi Alpha. It is obviously a "joke" photo, but it is still an interesting choice to include in this book. The section on the Masonic influences on Greek Letter Societies is very short (and not too well researched). It doesn't even mention the Miami "Triad!" Oh, well.... The book is beautifully illustrated and gives a reasonably complete overview of the role Freemasonry has played throughout our country's history. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, ZUZAA |

Mike,
In a Sci Fi Horror Anthology I have called "The Book of Philip Jose Farmer" C 1982 obviously a collection of PJF short stories, there is an HP Lovecraft-esque short story he wrote called "The Freshman" C 1979. In this story there are students a college for the mystic arts, and yep there are fraternities in it one called "Lam Kha Alif" as well as "House of Hastur". Have you ever heard of the bit of minutae and what kind of light can you shed on it. Just figured I throw you a real curveball. zax Lenoxxx |
