To Apply or Not?
.
|
If you're not happy, and are on the point of losing sanity, it's more than time to get out. You should go ahead and put your resume in for the other job. I wouldn't be too worried about your current employer finding out. There could be a myriad of reasons for your looking for other work, and if they ask, you can honstly answer them (only recommended if you get the other job), or give them some BS answer (something they can't prove, like "you wanted new challenges")
And you arn't being too paranoid. I'd be paranoid too. Good luck!:) |
I say apply.
If you hate your job, why are you sticking around? Also, who cares if your employer finds out? Your employer will either offer you an incentive to stay or they will send you on your way, or they won't do anything at all. Are you worried that your current employer will give you a bad reference? I don't know what the labour laws are like in your state, but I though employers couldn't give bad references. They were not allowed to say anything negative. They can choose to remain silent, but can't actually say anything negative. A lot of companies in Toronto now have policies that say they cannot give references. They can only varify employment. Also, don't worry about not knowing that particular area of law. Why weed yourself out? If you're not qualified, they will do that for you. There is no harm in trying, because you just never know. Just submit your resume and see what happens, there is no harm in trying. I definitely think you are being parnoid for no reason. Good luck. |

Also, just because you applied for a job, does not mean you have to take it if it is offered to you. |
LOL, I don't want to tell you what to do, but I think you're crazy for trying to weed yourself out. If I were you (which of course I am not, lol) I would just do it, and see what happens.
Either way, what ever you decide. Good luck! |
Don't apply.

Have you heard anything back yet???
|
I was going to tell you, and I'll still tell you even though you've already applied, that if you put "please keep my application confidential" or something along those lines, they have to by law. My industry is the same way, and we're currently in the process of a search for a new GM. Thing is, most of these GM's already have a job, and don't want their current place of business to know, just in case they don't get it. However, part of the search is to research about the person and what all they do. It gets kind of tricky that way. Anyway, I figured it might help you if you don't get the job and have to look someplace else.

I'll say a little prayer for you, maybe you will know something by the next alumnae meeting??:D
