Crush Parties
 

I heard a couple people from some of the sororities on my campus talking about crush parties. I have no idea what it is though. Can someone fill me in?

Crush parties may differ depending on the school, but they go like this: The sorority holding the crush party has its members invite several guys apiece. The guys receive an invitation telling them to go to the crush party, but they don't tell them who it's from (even though most guys probably have an idea who it's from). The party itself is basically a big mixer, and then supposedly at the end of the night the sorority girls tell their guy friends that they were the one who invited them. Something like that.

Crush parties are really fun - especially when you really use them how they were meant to be and invite someone you have a "crush" on, or a good guy friend.

When the crush party can backfire - when every girl in the sorority "crushes" 5 or 6 guys, and then the party itself is a 5-to-1 ratio and the guys get bored and leave because they don't really want to talk to each other.

The frats have them too. My daughter got a message that she had been "crushed" by a certain house and to let them know if she could come. Each guy could invite three girls. Then it is just a mixer, and the girls tried to figure out who invited them, then they are told.
