Holiday Significance for a BLACK PEOPLE!
Hotep Brothers. As you have contaminated and polluted your bodies with char-broiled pork & other forms of swine and alcohol during the past so-called "holiday weekend" think about a most profound and prolific speech that was given by Bro. Frederick Douglass that alluded to "What the Fourth of July means to me." I bear witness, that HOLY DAYS are needed in lieu of holidays and that BLACK MANHOOD training is needed for our young black boys. Instill the discipline of martial arts training for them. As a practicing martial artist who has studied under my mentor Dr. Moses Powell I am in the process of drafting up a proposal to have a demonstration to take place next year during our Centenial Convention. Brothers, instill the importance of MANHOOD TRAINING and the promoting of BLACK MEN to take control of their rightful place in society. Often times during these so-called "holidays" a BLACK PEOPLE are subjected to pious thought by pious KKKnegroes who want us all to believe and sing, "Don't worry, be happy, everything is gonna be alright." Unemployment, faulty educational systems, failing healthcare, SELF-HATRED, ATTACK of BLACK MANHOOD, to name a few... these and others are what we must face and COMBAT! As a "veteran" of "AUNT SAMantha's" military I can attest to the fact that WAR CONTINUES!

interesting....
regardless of what this holiday has become, many of our people are serving this country and have died so that you can voice your opinions relatively freely and that i can read them.
aside from the politics associated with this current war, our men and women are dying and are holding on to every bit of hope they can and the doctrine they chose to support. our young people need to really digest that instead of worrying about getting the newest fashion item or wanting to be like PUFFY AND JAY-Z. |

I certainly agree - - -

Military Servitude Facade! BEWARE!
Hotep Brothers. I write w/peace & respect. Interestingly, it has become somewhat of the norm for a society to "believe" the MYTH that the MAJORITY of BLACKS serving in the military are ever so desirous of wearing a uniform.
For the uninformed who love to cosign about the uniformed they should ponder the question as to one word, "why?" Why do BLACKS join the military? Granted, a number do so out of the desire to champion the cause for freedom. Perhaps there are those who believe in being patriotic. I beg to state from MY EXPERIENCE as an HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERAN who served six years as an OFFICER (active duty) and who participated in the first Gulf War as well as a few other missions that I can state w/FACTUAL EVIDENCE the disparity of military servitude being influenced by SOCIOEkkkONOMIC CONDITIONS. When a BLACK PERSON is able to realize the element/role SOCIOEkkkONOMICS that is had upon a BLACK MILITARY SERVICEMEMBER that compells servitutde to be had then h/she usually can identify and empathize with "LOGICAL" reasoning other than making absurb parallels that attempt to best explain why a BLACK PERSON so chooses to wear a military uniform. I am a veteran, and I am not alone in my thinking. As a matter of fact, I come from a family in which my father (RIP DAD) earned TWO PURPLE hearts while serving two tours in Vietnam as a member of Uncle Sams Misguided Children (USMC). As a major leaugue baseball prospect who was not able to dodge the draft despite playing college baseball he was not allowed to use "college" as a smokescreen, avoid the draft, or join the National Guard (aka The Bush Guard) only to suffer the ill-fate of HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of BLACK MEN who were FORCED to serve the military and return back to the states physically/mentally challenged forever and never the same! Visist your local VA Hospital and rap w/a "BLOOD" from Nam. I promise you will be challenged to not shed a few tears. They had goals, dreams, and though a few attained prosperity & health a GREAT MANY DID NOT! Times might have changed somewhat w/regards to the implementation of the draft but the "COVERT" tactics are still employed and strategically used to "TRICK" BLACKS into signing up for Uncle Sam. |
I too, am a veteran. Although I was not an officer I can say that many of the Black people who join the military do not join to 'serve' the country. It is another job, with what appears to be better benefits. Lots of the Black men come in to get away from the rough hoods at home. Some women come in to prove they can complete a successful tour.
We are often mislead to think we will not have to go to war. So we really never let that thought enter our minds. we are more focused on how they tell us that we don't have to pay for housing or medical and how we get the GI Bill and the VA home loan. At the same time they will fight against us to not give us the benefits that we joined to get. Many of us do not want to be in the war, we disagree with the whole thing, but we signed the papers and that is our job. Just like you may not want to make the coffee, but that's your job. I know people over there fighting and I know those who have made it back safely. Regardless, of why Blacks join the military adnd the reason they are over there, just pray for the safe return of them all. Pray that they will not come back mentally challenged, or unable to find jobs. Pray that they will come home to find open arms of love. Pray that the people who protest the war support the troops. All in all just pray. |
One VET to another VET...
Hotep Brothers. EuSchel, you have provided a great viewpoint! Excellent. It's a "VETERANS THANG" civies can't understand!

Would you not say that 1) people, in general, join these days for the money/benefits (and not so much for the service to their country) and 2) the government tricks everyone who comes anywhere near a recruitment office? I recently saw a news piece on army recruiters who flat out LIED to get people to sign. When this information was brought to the higher-ups, they claimed that they did not condone the actions. But, when the news folks mentioned that without lying and tricking people, it would be next to impossible for the recruiters to bring in enough new people to meet quota, the higher-ups didn't have much to say. Having said that, I would NOT be surprised if recruiters were encouraged to press blacks (along with others that certain members of this society clearly want removed). When that report comes out, I will be cheering for the exposure of yet another plot against non-whites. ETA: PHAShriner/1906 - I am usually put off by your presentation style, but I have to agree with you here! |
Re: Re: Military Servitude Facade! BEWARE!
One doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to know that once you sign, that your behind belongs to Uncle Sam. I think folks look at the immediate and not the long-term implications. If you go in the service and there is a war, you WILL be called up! If you are a fireman and there is a fire, you WILL be sent to battle it!

PLEASE READ OBJECTIVELY!
Hotep Brothers. In NO way, shape, or form has this VETERAN attempted to present a viewpoint that entails individuals being "owed/entitled" anything other than what human decency compells and mandates.
Granted, signing a military contract and taking an oath to serve and protect is self-explanatory but that is too easy an explanation for the DECEPTIVE practices that are used by way of some (not all) of Uncle Sam's military recruiters. If one wants to be technical and anal about military servitude perhaps h/she should live their life as such and make an absurb attempt to use the weak argument of "well, soldiers knew damn well what they were getting themselves into." Impoverished men and women who are convinced there are no other alternatives and are desirous of providing for their families will surely disagree w/such notions that "they knew what they were getting themselves into." As an honorably discharged veteran who KNOW WHAT I AM WRITING ABOUT FROM FACTUAL EXPERIENCE I can attest that a great many would probably say, "so what?" Again, the military member of today as well as yesteryear(s) deserves BETTER treatment. Plain and simple. Nevertheless, when one has a TRUE UNDERSTANDING of what the United States along w/many of her agents are forever promoting h/she will be better prepared for when PROMISES never materialize. A good number of soldiers sign up for military service and deservingly so expect something in return. Why should they do otherwise? When one obtains employment even at a fast-food restaurant is it not feasible to expect a decent wage, washroom break, and most importantly BENEFITS!  |
Let me take a stab at this . . .
As a Marine, it's a little different. we are told that every Marine is a rifleman and that is so that even if you are in the kitchen cooking the food if the enemy runs up in there you are able to attack. At the same time you are told you are in admin, not likely you will see any combat. I knew that there was a very minute probability of me having to go and fight, but that is not something that is stressed, or really brought up. I have sat with recruiters from the Air Force, the Navy, the Army, and of course the Corps, and all of them give you these cards. These cards have different benefits on them, and you are to list them in order of your prefrence. These crads list things like Money for Education, Job Experience, Travel the World, etc. To my recollection no cards say, Fight for country, go to war, Fight for Freedom of other countries. Yes, we sign the contracts. But the fact of having to go to war is rarely discussed. But if you have to go , you go and when you come back you expect a little more than you get. Don't get it wrong we do appreciate the thigs we do get. I don't know how I would be surviving without the GI Bill my husband and myself receive. I don't know how my parents would have gotten thier hoem without the VA, but I know that it still would have happened. People like me are a part of the reason that I can sit here and say what I am saying. When you have people ducking and dodging and I said 'I'll go'. Don't I deserve a little more? Can't I get a special something that makes life from here on a little easier? Can't I get a military discount even though I'm not active duty anymore, and I did not retire. Why is it that those are the only ones that count? Is not what I did as a veteran worth just as much? I think what PHA is trying to say is that Memorial Day should be more of a time to reflect and apreciate instead of party. We should be remembering those who died and only joined the military for education or to travel and paid a really high price for that. My apologies for the length. |
wonderful dialogue
pha and eushel you offer such wonderful and candid insight as products of military life. thank you!!
i think that a point has to be made that many of 'us' that consider a military career do so as a means to an end. focus, job, career, monetary support etc.; things that a military career can provide. with that being said, from what i have read, heard and experienced, certain recruiters attempt to take advantage of that. i will go so far as to say that it is probably more a part of recruiting strategy than many of us can imagine. nonetheless, it is a shame. i completely agree that with every sacrifice made by our soldiers more time should be given and more respect to those who defend the ground that i walk. it may not mean much but each time i see a soldier, reserve or active i tell him/her THANK YOU. you are doing a job that i dont have the guts to do. thank you for keeping me and my family safe. may GOD continue to bless and keep you and yours. |
Re: TWO LOGICAL Responses. Thanks!
Hotep Brothers. Darling, you and Euschel have provided exactly what I have attempted to convey! THANK YOU! Euschel, how about when a servicemember returns to the "world" from having FAITHFULLY served only to be awarded FIVE (yes, FIVE points!) for certain employment exams that fireman, policeman, and even the post office offers.
FIVE POINTS given for SIX YEARS? I guess ONE POINT for each year is what a military member deserve. The problem I have with this is simple. Try competing with THOUSANDS of applicants only to be placed on a waiting list with a five point advantage. |
It is all about expendability... And you know the National Security Council (spelled: NAZI's) decides that logic... I know that is about the harshes things to say to active duty personnel or vets, but military enslavement is what it is, period...
Yeah, you all deserve more. But the Halliburton Corporation of the Untied States has a priced you all out with your training well before this lunacy because we all know that this DAYUM war is not about helping folks who actually do need help--like the Dafurians... It is about a pipeline with Disneyland on it, pure and simple... The sad part is that female combatants will be returning from this war jacked up and the Untied States has never had to actually deal with that in modern times. I guess that is why they are building more prisons for females--or expanding "wings" in the prison industry in general... Don't be shocked when the recruiters convince this heerah government to re-institute the draft of all those under the age of 40 to fight for some bullisht... And N. Korea has an ICBM aimed in my location... I got that from a reliable source... Anyhow, there is an "underground"... And the "revolution" will not be televised or casted internet wide... And I am probably one of those that is on "THAT" list for a beautiful outdoor bedroom with nice gates in the Carribbean at GITMO... |
