Coronation Street

Does anyone else here watch Coronation Street?

I'm a huge fan, but unfortunately Canada is about 6 months behind the UK in episode. My grandmother lives there and is always calling us to keep us updated, and I read some British magazines so hear what's going on, but I want to be surprised, but someone always keeps ruining it for me.

Anyone else a fan?

Unfortunately, no - they don't show Coronation Street on BBC America. When I lived in England, I would catch it every so often. I am more of an EastEnders kind of girl anyhow. And yeah, the episodes they showed here were like a year behind!

That's too bad they don't show it in the US.

It's the only soap I'll watch. CBC shows it here (not BBC Canada), and they're trying to catch up slightly. They show 2 half hour episodes 4 nights a week, but that's ending soon. I don't think we'll be anywhere near to the UK though.

I found out what happens to a few of the characters unfortunately by accident (my mum brought home a Hello magazine and they were talking about what happens to Katie...and we're nowhere near that epsiode yet).

I was hoping someone else would be a fan here so I'd have some to gossip about my stories with.

I'm not a fan of Y and R or Days of Our Lives, etc.

I watch it every now and then, but haven't really gotten into it. It was my late grandmother's favourite show, however.

I only started watching Coronation Street about a year ago, but I'm hooked now.

But my mother has pretty much been watching in since day 1 and she's the one that turned me on to it.

I have enjoyed it for years. I noticed that some of the storylines are really too much (those new Baldwins are driving me crazy and I am still waiting for Shelly to open her eyes to Charlie). All in all, it is still a great soap. :)

For up-to-date summaries, I go to www.csvu.net as it has a great updates for Canadians, a good message board and links to the ITV site for previews.

Thanks for the info!

I love the story lines. They're killer!

I think the reason I love Corrie so much is because the characters are so "common". I like how some are rich and some are poor and they don't all live in giant houses and go to bed in perfect makeup and hair and pearls.

Dish Network offers an 'Eastenders' monthly package for something like $10-$15 a month.

Me too!!! I started watching EastEnders in the mid-80's, lost track of it for a while during and little after college (~ '87 - ~ '92 / '93), then I've been watching it ever since again. I've heard great things about Coronation Street, but the PBS station here in Houston does not show it and I don't have cable.
