NPC / NIC Challenge for AIs
I want to borrow kddani's idea from the Greek forum and modify it for this forum.
In this thread, say something good about EVERY sorority and the one fraternity represented in the AI Roll Call. All of them. If you don't know anything about a group, go to their website and find something you like or admire about them. It can be something as silly as loving their colors to something much deeper - like having a particularly touching experience with one of the groups. Here's the list and my comments about each: Alpha Delta Pi - I love the part in their creed that states "My sorority is more than a ritual or symbol - it is a way of life." Alpha Gamma Delta - I love their mascot, the squirrel Alpha Omicron Pi - I love their red rose symbol, as well as their unofficial panda bear symbol (I'm a roses and bears girl!) Alpha Phi - Again, I love that one of their symbols is the "Phi Bear". Alpha Xi Delta - I love their official badge, the quill. It brings up very scholarly and intellectual images for me. Delta Delta Delta - I love absolutely everything there is to love about this group (No, I don't think I'm biased...:p ) Delta Phi Epsilon - Their open motto "To be rather than seem to be" is absolutely fantastic!! I try to live by that motto already, and I'm not even a member!! Delta Gamma - I love their Raggedy Ann/Hannah doll. Reminds me when I was a little kid and played with Raggedy Ann. Also, when I was a silly young undergrad about to go through rush, I thought maybe I'd want to be a DG. I can't remember why, but they must've made a good impression on me! Gamma Phi Beta - when I was in school, the Gamma Phis were the "beautiful girls", and while I was pursuing AI, a couple of the Gamma Phis in this forum were very helpful and supportive of me during the ups and downs of the search (navane, thank you!). This just proved to me that Gamma Phis everywhere are beautiful inside AND out!! Kappa Delta - I think Kappa Delta has one of the most interesting coats of arms of all the groups. There's such a variety of mysterious symbols! Plus, trojangal will soon be initiated into this group, and I have come to know her as a WONDERFUL person. If all KDs are as nice as she is, then KD is made up of absolutely phenomenal women. Phi Mu - Hands down, I love their creed! Go to their website and check it out! It's fabulous. Sigma Kappa - I love that they were founded as a literary and social society - so scholarly! Their symbol, the violet, is gorgeous too. Zeta Tau Alpha - Wow! I was floored when I learned their founders were only 14-15 years old when they created this organization! That's amazing! I like their badge with the crown, especially the "bling" badges - it looks very royal. And blueangel is a proud new initiate of ZTA, and she is just an awesome person - so dedicated and idealistic! Pi Kappa Phi (fraternity) - I am very impressed that they have what they call "7 Statements of Position" on various social issues of the day because "our members face important issues everyday". I think this is a very bold way for them to reinforce the values they espouse. Very cool! |
I'm not an AI, but I thought I would do it anyway :)
Alpha Delta Pi - Everything! I love my sisters, our ritual, and everything else. And I truly believe "My sorority is more then a symbol or a ritual, it IS a way of life" Alpha Gamma Delta - Every AGD I have met has been a truly genuine woman. It speaks a lot for your sisterhood. Alpha Omicron Pi - In a strange sort of way, AOPi is the reason I am greek. I used to drive past their house every day on campus and after seeing it for the 50th time I started to wonder what it would be like to be in one of the groups. The rest is now history. Alpha Phi - Three of the 5 other sorority women in my family are APhis. They were quite upset with me when I didn't join there! Alpha Sigma Alpha- (for newsororgal) One of my good friends is an ASA. She is great. I also love your exemplars. Such a cool idea. Alpha Xi Delta - I like this part of your mission "Foster intellectual, professional, and personal growth" Delta Delta Delta - TriDelta seems to have such a strong sisterhood. Its very admirable. Delta Phi Epsilon - I love that you were non sectarian from your beginning. Its amazing that your founders were so progressive thinking and made your group someplace anyone could feel comfotable. Delta Gamma - "Do Good" Simple but effective! Delta Zeta- I love your pin, the lamp is so beautiful. My two cousins are also DZs so I have a family connection there! Gamma Phi Beta - You seem to be on the forefront of AI! Its great to see that you are so dedicated to the "membership for life" concept Kappa Delta - The Girl Scouts are such a worthwhile philanthropy. It makes me happy that you support them (I spent 13 years in GS!!) Phi Mu - Macon Magnolias! Sir Fidel and the quatrefoil (sp?) are great. I also love that you have been immortalized in Steel Magnolias. Sigma Kappa - If I hadn't gone ADPi, I most likely would have been a Sigma K. "One Heart One Way" is a great motto. Zeta Tau Alpha - I love your crown! The chain of chapters is such a beautiful idea. Pi Kappa Phi (fraternity) - Rich Eisen is one of your brothers? Thats so cool! |
I am not an AI either but I had to reply!
Alpha Delta Pi - I love that they are the "first and finest". One of my very good friends was an ADPi! Alpha Gamma Delta - One of my good friends from New Orleans was an AGD from Psi Chapter at Alabama! I stayed at their house once! It is gorgeous! Alpha Omicron Pi - Well I'm an AOII! And my mother is an AI of AOII! It is the greatest experience to share AOII with my mother since she was not Greek while at LSU (Although she claims the ADPi's and Theta's did rush her one semester!) Alpha Phi - I love ALpha Phi's Lazy Phi Badge. SO unique and very pretty! Alpha Xi Delta - My sister's best friend is an Alpha Xi Delta from U of New Orleans! My best friend's mother was an Alpha Xi here at Ole Miss! Delta Delta Delta - This was one of the first sororities I had heard of when I was younger. Some of the couselors at my camp growing up were Tri Delta's! They are so awesome here at Ole Miss! Delta Phi Epsilon - I really like The Five S's of DFE ... Sisterhood: Organizational Knowledge and Skills Scholarship: Academic, Career, and Lifestyle Skills and Planning Service: Community and Societal Awareness and Involvement Social: Communication, Leadership, and Social Development Self: Physical, Emotional, and Personal Development Delta Gamma - In Oxford, MS Delta Gamma is first and foremost of Southern Sororities! They were founded here at the Lewis School for Women! I know personally many Delta Gamma alumnae. I love their badge and their open motto of "Do Good." Gamma Phi Beta - I am really intrigued by their badge and their UGA chapter is amazing from what I have heard and read! Kappa Delta - I love that I share my birthday with Kappa Delta and they were founded in the same year as AOII, 1897! Phi Mu - I also met some Phi Mu's when I was younger and I thought they were the coolest chics alive! I love that pink is one of their colors and I love that their mascot is the lion! Sigma Kappa - I love their colors and I love their New Member badge. It is by far the most unique new member badge out there! Zeta Tau Alpha -Some of my best friends are ZTAs from Ole Miss. I love their badge and I love their symbol of the crown! I am actually helping with the ZTA Reunion this summer at Ole Miss! Pi Kappa Phi (fraternity) - I know a Pi Kappa Phi from LSU and he is great! |
ummm.... Delta Zeta?
|
Okay...here goes....
Alpha Delta Pi---Their open motto: We live for each other. How cool is that! This group will always have a special place in my heart! Alpha Gamma Delta--These are always incredible women. I know several who are committed to their group and sisterhood. I remember when the chapter at Troy was selected to help start with Rush at another college: the women were so excited! Alpha Omicron Pi--I really like the new member pin of the wheat sheaf and what it represents. Alpha Phi--They have some beautiful badges! I saw a Lazy Phi that was gorgeous! Alpha Xi Delta--A great group with very active alumnae chapters! The chapter in Birmingham is always doing cool things every month. Delta Delta Delta---I love the shape of their badge--so pretty! I think it's neat that National officers have emeralds in their badges. Delta Phi Epsilon--I love their founding principles of Justice, Sisterhood, and Love. Delta Gamma--I didn't know too much about DG until I got to work with one of them a few years ago. I love their Hannah dolls. Gamma Phi Beta--I've never seen so many women committed to helping others in learning more about Alumna Initiation. Many many women on this board are there to offer a helping hand when it comes to researching AI, and offer strong support for the whole process! Very strong alumnae groups!! Kappa Delta-- Zeta Chapter at the University of Alabama celebrated 100 years of being a chapter!!! I love the fact that they donate a huge amount to Orthopaedic Research every year. I'm so excited that I'll be a part of them. Phi Mu: Love the pink and the quatrefoil is beautifu. Sigma Kappa: Their philanthropies are really awesome--gerontology and Alzheiimers. Zeta Tau Alpha--The symbol of a crown is so neat! I'm sure that every woman must feel like a queen when they wear their badge! Pi Kappa Phi--I've always known these men to be great guys, and still do. If I hadn't been dating a TKE, I would have dated the Pi Kapps in college. They are a very strong group at my college: when the brothers wanted to build a house, they started the "water bottle fund" and achieved their goal, I believe, in less than two years! Delta Zeta--I have had the opportunity to work this last year with a former Traveling Consultant for DZ. She was, and is a great source of comfort to me at work: she was always on hand to answer many questions, and I would often seek her out when I was seeking guidance. It's so cool--she has flags from all the schools that were in her "zone" while she traveled. And..I think we need to add in ASA, don't we? ASA--Aspire..Seek..Attain. Very nicely said.. |
Alpha Delta Pi - How can you go wrong with a motto like "We live for each other!"? Two of my dearest friends in college were sisters of ADPi and they were so proud of their sorority! Plus, any sorority from Georgia has got to be good! Can you tell I'm a former resident?
Alpha Gamma Delta - "Inspire the Woman. Impact the World" A vision like that would inspire any woman! Alpha Omicron Pi - I love their colors and mascot! Alpha Phi - My cousin is an Alpha Phi and very proud of it! Alpha Xi Delta - One of the prettiest badges...elegant and simplistic, but meaningful Delta Delta Delta - I love the pansy, their symbol of alumnae membership. I adore seeing pansies in full bloom. They are happy flowers!! Delta Phi Epsilon - The PEARL program really looks to enrich the lives of the sisters...what a great support system! Delta Gamma - The Hannah doll reminds me of my Raggedy Ann doll that I have had since I was 5 years old. Very wonderful memories! Delta Zeta- I am a turtle junkie and think their mascot is so cute. Plus, their colors are so retro preppy! Gamma Phi Beta - I love their philanthropy that encourages camping for girls. For many young girls, camps can teach them independence, comraderie and help them to build beautiful friendships. Without sounding to Whitney Houston-ish, "I believe the children are our future..." Kappa Delta - I have always loved the girls scouts, ever since I was one many years ago, and I think it is a perfect organaization for Kappa Delta to mentor! Plus, their color scheme matches! Phi Mu - I love that they are from Macon. They were the 1st sorority house built on the campus at GSU (my old college) and I used to get to go inside when I delivered pizzas in college. It was beautiful! And I love the pink! Sigma Kappa - I truly respect their philanthropy in helping older citizens. There is so much to learn from our elders and it's nice to see a group that believes in a positive relationship with them! Zeta Tau Alpha - One of my bridesmaids was a ZTA at Georgia Tech and I remember how nice their house was! Plus, their badge is lovely and I never met an unfriendly sister! Pi Kappa Phi- Always will have fond memories, since the Pi Kappa Phi "Swamp Party" was my 1st college frat party back in 1990. I had a great time and still remember the party quite vividly! |
I can't believe I forgot Delta Zeta!!! Sorry ladies. Here goes:
Delta Zeta - I love their turtle mascot, and their badge with the lamp. It brings up all these mysterious images for me, like pursuit of knowledge, but also the whole "genie-in-a-bottle" thing. I know, I'm weird. Alpha Phi - I wanted to add that I really admire Alpha Phi for leading the way to positive changes within the Greek/NPC system. Wherever there's positive change being made, you can be sure that Alpha Phi is leading the way. For instance, NPC as a group began when Alpha Phi called a meeting among the various groups to decide issues relating to recruitment, etc. Very cool. Also, they seem to be blazing the trail in the area of Alumnae Initiation. Alpha Sigma Alpha - In honor of our newest AI, I wanted to say I have a special place in my heart for ASA because Sarah Ida Shaw (Tri Delta's founder) was also involved with this group as a consultant. Very cool! |
I suppose I shouldn't be terribly upset that no one has anything positive to say about Pi Beta Phi since none of our AI are active on GC (but yes, we do AI. Among our priminant AI is Barbara Bush, former first lady). I know we are missing other groups and don't want to discriminate just because their AI (or honor AI might not participate in GC) Therefore, I'll say something nice about EVERY group
ALPHA CHI OMEGA: Some of my best friends were AChiOs and I love their badge ALPHA DELTA PI: I love their philanthropy. I work in the NICU and truly value the Ronald McDonald House! ALPHA EPSILON PI: I supported their chapter at UM for years by parking at the house during the Ann Arbor Art Fair (and paying double the fee since it went to support a sorority) ALPHA GAMMA DELTA: Great neighbors when I was a chapter advisor.. the Alpha Gams welcomed us to our new house and were gracious always. ALPHA OMICRON PI: I have lifetime AOPi friends ALPHA PHI: Their flowers are my favorite ALPHA SIGMA ALPHA: Great philanthropy ALPHA SIGMA TAU: Yellow roses are soooo pretty... ALPHA XI DELTA: Love the quill badge CHI OMEGA: My niece is a Chi O TRI DELTA: Next door neighbor to my home chapter and a lifelong friendly rival. DELTA GAMMA: OK, I'm partial to badges that are the symbols but DG is another great one DELTA PHI EPSILON: Philanthropies are organizations I've supported as well DELTA ZETA: Badge and New member badge are both very pretty GAMMA PHI BETA: Several friends in nursing school were Gamma Phi-- smart and friendly KAPPA ALPHA THETA: Great philanthropy- CASA is an important organization. KAPPA DELTA: Many KD friends including some in a rechartering of a dormant chapter-- I was impressed with the support they gave the chapter when it came back to campus after a five year absence. KAPPA KAPPA GAMMA: Monmouth partner-- pretty badge PHI MU: I work NICU so their philanthropies are close to my heart PHI SIGMA SIGMA: Love their colors PI BETA PHI: Close to my heart for 26 years SIGMA DELTA TAU: VEry pretty badge SIGMA KAPPA: Another neighbor of the chapter I advised-- shared the kitchen door with the SKs and they were nice enough to let me in on more than one occasion. SIGMA SIGMA SIGMA: Love their philanthropies THETA PHI ALPHA: MIchigan connection (I went to grad school at UM)! ZETA TAU ALPHA: I'm doing the Komen Race tomorrow... what can I say? Tremendous puplicity for us all to have their logo splashed all over! One of our favorite sayings is that we are only as strong as our weakest link. What affects one panhellenic organization affects us all, so the more we support each other, the stronger we'll all be (and that's why I like threads like this) Not to forget our AI fraternity: PI KAPPA PHI (or as they were called at my undergrad campus, the "Boy Pi Phis") Only fraternity formal I attended as an undergrad. Great group of guys, some are still friends even years later. |
point of information
No disrespect intended, dakareng (as I always love reading nice things about KKG), but we don't do A.I.
