Greeks in fashion design.
 

In the rarifies and eccentric world of fashion design, there are Greeks. In the field of shoe design, for haute cuture and casual and active, Omega Psi Phi has three of its sons making their marks in this world.

Etu Evans, called the "Prince of Luxe Footwear", is an up-and-coming designer of women's shoes and handbags. His shoes have graced runways in NY and Europe. He has also started a foundation that furthers his outreach efforts. Evans, was initiated at Xi Psi Chapter, South Carolina State Univ., and is also a graduate of Columbia Univ.,the Fashion Institute in NYC and the Parsons School of Design.

Twins Shane and Shawn Ward, both Michigan grads, are not only biological brothers but fraternity brothers as well (line brothers!), having pledged Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi at Michigan. Their most recent venture is DETNY, a company which produces casual and active dress footwear for the "jet set" crowd.

One of our alums, and former CP's, is a designer for May Merchandising. She lives a fabulous life - okay, not really... VERY long hours at work, flying constantly to other cities/countries, etc. Sounds glamourous, but it gets tiring. I can't wait till she releases her own line ;)

Betsy Johnson
 

I know that my school's local Alpha Xi Delta website lists a Betsey Johnson as a fashion editor for a popular magazine (who's name I can't remember) who is AXiD and I believe it is the same as fashion designer Betsey Johnson. She is a creative genius!

Betsey Johnson IS an Alpha Xi Delta. She used to send coupons out to her chapter every year.

Patricia Miller, co-founder of Vera Bradley, is a KD.

Delta Zeta Edith Head was a very talented fashion designer, having won 8 Academy Awards for her work in movies. Some of the movies she designed for include "Sabrina", "Roman Holiday", "All About Eve", "The Sting" and "The Great Gatsby".

Kate Spade is a Homey Girl From Kansas City along with a multitude of Others!:cool:

Anne Barge, a wedding dress designer, is also a Kappa. She uses a stylized fleur-de-lis as her logo.

Kate Spade was honored at our biennial convention in Kansas City last year. It was really neat. Now if only we could get a discount on her handbags!

Stephanie Fornash is a fashion designer in DC whose purses, watches and accessories have a distinct Vera Bradley or Lilly feel to them: Palm Beach Chic.

She is also an ADPi alumna (VA Tech) and has a special section on her site for ADPi-inspired merchandise!
