Ladies: Best haircut for thick hair???

Does anyone know what the best cuts are for very thick hair?? I have super thick hair and I want to get a bang but I'm not sure. Anyone have advice for my thick-headed self?? haha! I want a fab cut before I go to Tampa!

I kinda like Jessica Simpson's new cut, but the article says her cut would look best on thin, fine hair.

Nothing real short, or you risk having your hair look like a big triangle. (Advice from one of my friends, who has the thickest hair I've ever seen.)

that hair cut in your pic is super cute. I think you could pull it off better WITH thick hair than thin....

I have pretty thick hair, so I wear it short and shaggy. It's easy to take care of, and it keeps it off my neck which keeps me cool in summer, and it only takes 5 minutes to wash, dry and style.

what my hair looks like, sorry its a composite pic!

Phoenix,

Your hair is sooo cute! I could never go that short! The shortest I would go is my shoulders, but your haircut compliments you nicely. I don't have the guts! Hahahaha!

Yeah I just got my LONG hair all cut off. I wanted a "spunky" cut like Phoenix's. I just ended up looking like a soccer mom!

The secret is that you REALLY have to schedule your hair cuts. I MUST get mine cut every 6 weeks, or the texture/chop goes out of it. I go to a good salon, no BoRics for me, I get them to cut it for texture, I use Aveda Self Control pomade (it's not cakey or greasy or waxy, just nice and sculpty and smells nice) and a bit of mousse and I'm good to go.

The secret to short hair anxiety is this....It is hair. It will grow back. If you hate it, you can cover it up with a cute bandana or a hat, and in a few weeks it will have grown out and you can start over...it always. grows. back. :D You'd be surprised how liberating a short hair cut can be!!!

So true.

And you'd be surprised about short hair looking good on you. I have short hair too, but it is longer in the front than the back. I can go as short as I want in the back as long as I keep some length in the front, or my face will look fat. Sometimes it depends on the cut.

And thick hair with bangs may or may not work. The thickness may cause your hair to lie flatter than you want on your face......be careful.

A good stylist will know better than you what will look right on you. Don't be afraid to listen to them.

It seriously takes me a good 40 minutes to dry mine throughly.

My hair is super thick (and on the long side) and the best thing I ever did was get long layers. And consider getting your hair thinned too. Some people are really against it, but it works wonders on my hair.

As for bangs, it really depends on what you want. The kind it seems everyone had back in middle school where you had to curl them all the time would not look good! Sideswept ones are nice.

I have very thick hair with long layers. My shortest layer is just below the chin. You MUST have layers if you have thick hair, otherwise you'll get lampshade-head!

I had super thick hair in high school... and it had a mind of its own with waves.

My stylist did longer layers and kept it around my shoulders. That way I didn't look like a mushroom. Of course, when I got to college, I went to an el cheapo salon and had it cut short and all one length. It was weird.

But I've lost a lot of hair since but layers still help control the wave I have. It naturally flips. I dig it.

I have really thick hair and sideswept bangs worked ok for me. I wear mine long and all one length except for the bangs.

Thanks everyone for the advice. My hair is so thick, I get it thinned out and it's still hard to manage. I have a great stylist, so I will ask her what she thinks. She is fabulous! Thanks!! :D

I have really thick hair, and my hair is in a long layered bob. basically the longest layer is at my chin and my hair is just above shoulder length. My stylist just started thinning my hair and it has worked wonders. FiReKraCkEr, I am thinking of getting a similar cut. I really like the new shorter (than my hair now) layered bobs with side swepped bangs.
