Today was suppose to be a happy day.
 

i wake up today all happy to be turning 25 and couldnt wait to celebrate with close friends. however, i recieve a call later this afternoon that a chapter brother has passed while in surgery. he has been fighting cancer for a long time and has been an inspiration to all. this has been the second blow to our chapter in 5 months. the first was the passing of our chapter advior in december. may he rest in peace, and may our chapter stay strong.

That's terrible news! I am so sorry - this must be especially difficult due to the loss your chapter has already suffered. My thoughts go out to you all.

I'm so sorry. We lost a sister from our chapter not long after graduation and she was the same way. It's tough to loose someone who means so much.

brad's funeral was held on wednesday and it was the most incredible and emotional one i have ever been to. the service was held in austin and a bunch of people from dallas attended (friends, SAE brothers, and some of the lovely alpha gams). the photo slide show, the songs, and the speakers were all great tributes. it is sad that something like this happens for me to realize how strong our brotherhood is. i am so proud to be a part of this organization. at the burial site, the brothers of SAE gathered around the casket, said a little goodbye, and sang one of our songs called "friends."

cancer my have taken one of his legs and his life, but not his spirits. they said he wouldnt live past 13. they were wrong. nine years later, he has made a huge impact on my life and others. i am going to miss him.
