Silver Anniversary.
 

GC'ers,

I've have reached a fraternal milestone: 25 years ago today, I was initiated into the sacred fold of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity,Inc with 9 other young men at Appalachian State Univ. in Boone,NC. It was one of the greatest accompishments/happenings of my life, outside of my Christian conversion. The things I learned about myself and my capabilites as a person were(and are!) invaluable; and it has afforded me the opportunity to meet and get to know a lot of people I would not otherwise have, and I have grown immeasurably as a result of my associations in the Fraternity. I thank God, my LBs, those who made me, and all the "bruhs."

I'll celebrate by going to two committee meetings of my graduate chapter tonight and continue the service that I swore by sacred oath to do 25 years ago.

To all the GC'ers who responded to my Silver Anniversary announcement-

Thanks for all the well wishes and congrats!The older I get the more I realize that life is such a blessing. We take so much for granted. (l lost my mom last year on this date.) When the story of our lives are told,the only thing that will stand in the sight of God is the fruit of our relationships. The fraternal bonds we partake in our various groups bring this out in a magnificent and sublime way, esp. in an age of narcissism and the concomitant nihilism born of materialsm and the suppression of spiritual values.

(I apologize if my "thanks" took a more somber turn; but what can you expect from someone who started reading Kierkegaard at age 10!:)!)
