Thoughts and prayers....and networking

Mr. Sageofages needs some good thought coming his way. He was downsized :( after 7 years of being with Meredith. His boss called him in about 2pm yesterday and said "we regret to inform you, your position is being eliminated". Basically "Thanks your work was great, but since the conversion is over, Interactive Media is going to do your job. No reflection on you, it is 'just a business decision'." After winning national awards, company awards and bonus after bonus...go figure.

He gets 4 months' severance (full benefits) and "outplacement assistance" (which is a joke).

I have tried to be as supportive and loving as possible...but he is sandbagging on me, trying to be "Mr Stoic". He was up all night last night with a sick stomach and pain in his chest. I could not get him to go to the hospital.

So the job hunt begins....anyone with leads in Information Technology sector (Unix sysadmin, web app developer, instructional uses) :) we could use them.

Did you mean to post this in chit chat? :) just wondering

I have no networking or anything, and if you were in the Detroit area I could see if my sister in law could help, but I'll definitely be thinking of you.

Oops...I did mean to post this in chit chat...

Mods can you move it? Or should I repost, and you close this one.

Geez...my brain is fried.

Pam, you & mr. sageofages have my prayers and good thoughts. Hope everything works out in the short run!

Good thoughts and prayers to you and mr. sageofages. Being out of work is the worst feeling in the world...it happened to me last year.

(Following up in a PM.)

To you and & Mr. SageofAges, I wish the best for the both of you...you're not alone. My boss has suddenly cut my hours from 40 hours/week to less than 10 hours/week without any notice and no severance pay to compensate.

As a result, I'm trying to find another job, but they are slim pickins for my profession...

I hope Mr. SageofAges is able to find something in the meantime and you'll be able to get through this successfully!
