IP addresses
Anyone know how to find out who an IP address belongs to? Or at least maybe an area, or something?
Someone keeps posting anonymous comments in my livejournal and I want to find out who it is. |

You probably won't be able to find out who it is though. -Rudey |

Find the IPWHOIS Lookup section and paste the IP into the box and search. It will give you a geographical location and return the users ISP. The only way to find out which specific person could be sending the messages would be to contact the ISP - although I'm sure you'll find that none of them will provid you with a name or address because of privacy issues. Disable anonymous posting.

If you have friends that don't have LJ that often read and comment, you can enable comments, and just screen the ones you want to before allowing it to be posted publicly. But your best bet would be to disable it completely because LJ won't get in the middle of anything. |
