KD questions

I have found out that initiation will not be until fall. So, as I sit on the edge of my seat until then, I have a few questions.

1) Am I allowed to wear letters now?

2) What other KD websites are out there for sisters to talk and visit?

3) Can I access The Angelos online? I've read the winter one, and want to read the new one!

4) What am I allowed to do until then?

You can PM me with these answers.

Cheryl

I'll just post here so you don't get 10,000 PM's

1) yes, you can wear letters. However, I wouldn't encourage it. Nowadays new members can wear letters before initiated and they tell us it's hazing if we don't allow it. As an alumnae, you're around many old schoolers who don't believe a woman should wear letters until initiated. My personal advice would be that it may step on some toes. I mean, feel free to get some KD stuff, but I wouldn't go all out block letters. Not to mention few alumnae wear them anyway.

2) There's not necessarily any websites. There's a fairly active yahoo group (kdonline runs it), but I think it's restricted to initiated members

3) Nope, Angelos isn't online. It should be, most other groups have theirs online, but we don't

4) "Allowed"? Lol, not sure what you mean. What else is there? Obviously you'd participate in your AA's activities I would assume.

Wow, I am so out of the loop! Cheryl, I had not read your thread on AI, and have not really talked to you on GC ever, so I didn't really know your situation. I was wondering how a 6 week New Member Ed. period would result in not being initiated until the Fall! Sorry this is so belated, but welcome home to KD!

Definitely check out Annie's Kappa Delta Online Website. It's done by Annie (AKA kdonline on Greek Chat) and it is really great. On that site, you can subscribe to the KD Newsletter. It is a bunch of submissions from KDs around the country regarding various things, such as job hunting, relocating, AA events, chapter events, announcements, etc. I get the newsletter sent directly to my email.

I would say you are allowed to do pretty much everything except use AOT and the crest. Save up for your diamond pin...I vote for some serious bling!

KD Love & AOT,
Shae

One of our now-initiated sisters had the same thing last year - she was first degreed in May and initiated in November. First of all, welcome, and its great that you're so excited!

In my chapter we tell girls the same thing, that they're allowed to wear letters but that some of the older girls might "feel weird" about it - one of the primary reasons is that traditionally your big makes you your first set of block letters. Do you have any old t-shirts that they gave you? You could wear those. Or maybe as a treat to yourself you could order some KD jewelry until then - that's what I did. And tell whoever you want that you're a Kappa Delta new member (and not a pledge!)

As for what you can do over the summer... I'd second the idea of just interacting with KDs online, and maybe learn a bit about KD history. If you're really bored, start memorizing the purpose, creed, etc. out of your Norman Shield, because you're just going to have to do that anyway :)
