UCR Greek Life Article
I saw this article on the UC Riverside college website & thought I'd share it. I like seeing articles that play up the positive aspects of greek life like the service.
Positive Greek Article |
good for them...
terrific public relations for the system. :D |
Excellent to the nth degree.
Congratulations to our Brother/Sisters at Riverside. Job well done. |
Thanks!
Thanks for posting that! I haven't been on GC much lately and totally blanked about getting it posted. That was a retroactive award that was awarded again this year, this time to Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity for their numerous and outstanding service projects.
Also awarded at the Division of Student Affairs awards was Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for Student Organization of the Year (truly an exemplary chapter and doesn't get nearly enough credit for it!). Not only have they been one of the most active organizations on our campus, all of their events are positive, well-planned and they do it all with a low amount of members (10-12 last year) and the highest chapter average GPA of all 45 fraternities and sororities for 2 consecutive quarters. |
I say UCR has a great Greek System comparing to other Southern California Schools, i go to Long Beach State and right now, we have a lot of negative press with Fraternity getting kicked off campus and the Greek Advisors making negative quote about it. I also know at Fullerton, they have the same problem. I hope we can rebulit our system like UCR

Wow, thanks for the compliments!
The Greek system at UCR is improving, but is by no means perfect (really, who is?). There are a lot of improvements that need to be made, a lot of communication lapses that need addressing, and chapter relations need some work, but that's the case just about everywhere. As a staff member in charge of coordinating student organizations, my goal for next year is to see better communication between the 3 Greek councils, the re-establishment of NPHC's council on campus, and more progress toward funding for a full-time Greek Advisor... It's nice to know that someone thinks so highly of our system here! |
