Movie game suggestion?

I heard about this movie trivia game called Shout About Movies. Seeing that I consider myself a pro at Trivial Pursuit (90’s edition of course) I think my knowledge of sitting on the couch and watching movies could come in handy here. It’s a DVD-based game and I think you can even keep score on the DVD so you don’t have to mess with a board. Has anyone played this??

i saw this on the "today show" around christmas time. it looked like a lot of fun for movie buffs. if i remember correctly, you would be shown a brief scene from a movie and you would have to identify it-you might also be asked to identify music from the movie or who said what line from a movie.

To me, this sounds like *Scene It*. With *Scene It*, you have cards with questions on it and a DVD that you have to watch every now and then. The DVD has clips that you have to answer questions after watching them. Plus it also has other movie related things like guessing the movie when the characters are taken out and the like. There is also a Disney version of *Scene It*

Thanks for your help!

FSUZeta, I think we are talking about the same game. efcheerBB, I’ve played Scene It before and Shout About Movies is different. With Shout About Movies, from what I’ve heard you don’t have to go back and forth with cards and the board and the little pieces…the whole game is on the DVD. I think I’m going to get it because it’ll be more fun to play with a larger group of friends.

Anyone played both games? I’d love to hear any comparisons!

My friends and I played this at a Xmas party with about 10-15 people and we had a lot of fun with it. I haven't played Scene It, so I can't compare, but you're right in thinking that all you need is a DVD player and a remote.
I don't remember every detail about the game - it's been five months and there was some alcohol involved with the evening but...
I do recall that there were several rounds - like seven or eight. One of the rounds were lines from a movie, another was a scene and they would slowly bring in images making it more and more obvious. Yet another round would be little 'plot lines' and hints from the movie including characters/actors and they'd bring another clue in every few seconds. Sorry I can't remember more right now, if I do, I'll edit my post.

bluefish, thanks so much for the info! Sounds like you had a great time playing it and your description helped me a lot. which question type was your favorite?

I finally ended up playing Shout about movies with my friends last week and we had a blast. We were kicking the other team's butt the whole time until the end when they beat us because they bet all their points and got the final question right. Revenge will be ours next time...

Do you know how the technology of this game works? I love how shout keeps score for you right on the dvd...

That final question can be tricky! We played it three times that night and the women won two out of three. We were pretty proud. I liked that you can basically continue to shout out answers until someone gets the right one, so there's no penalty for incorrect guesses (for most of the game).

My favorite was where they would bring in the different actor's or character's names, lines from the plot etc.

I'll probably be buying a copy of it for myself sometime. I'm such a movie junkie. My sister and I are currently in the process of watching AFI's 100 Greatest Movies of All Time.

I know nothing about the technology of the game - I'm not real tech savy.

We'll have to play guys vs. girls next time...the guys better watch out :) I also like that you can yell out the answers as you go along. Makes it so easy to play.

Think Shout would be a good gift for recent HS grads? I'm in the market for a gift for my cousin and would love to set him up with something fun to play in his dorm next year...
