David Letterman quote? (and first post in Chi O forum, yay!)
 

Hey y'all!

I know that this may seem like a completely out-of-left-field question, but it has been burning me and my girl friends for quite a while:

what is the context of of the "famous" David Letterman quote (Chi O's were... discreet, desirable...) When did he say it? Where? Why (I mean, besides being the obvious truth ;))?

We just got our formal tee shirts and the quote is emblazoned on the back, and we all just want to know where it come froms. Thank you so much!

I've wondered about that David Letterman quote myself. I think Cardinal026 has it in her signature line here on Greek Chat.

For those of you not sure what we're talking about -- here it is:

"Chi O's were ideal partners for all occasions. They were discrete, desirable, tactful, polite, and fun..Every mom dreamed of her son coming home with a Chi Omega, a woman's woman." -David Letterman

It isn't actually from David Letterman. The quote is from page 5 of "The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi Dave Letterman: The College Years" and it was written by Jeff Lewis about Letterman, but he never actually said that. Or so I was PMed by a fellow GCer, I haven't actually checked out the book to find out for myself.

In the meantime, regardless of who said it, sounds like every Chi Omega I know! ;) :D
