SOS (Supporting Our Sisters)Group #7
I am a Purdue Alumni Member and I have been appointed to be our chapter contact for the new SOS program that Nationals has started. I am really not clear of what my job is and what the program is about, but the way I understand it, is that the alumni contacts are here to provide support to the actives. I guess we just answer questions, and try to help actives overcome challenges in their chapters. So I guess the first thing we need to know is what are some of the major problems facing your active chapters right now?
I hope to hear from some of you soon. Wendy Hardisty Purdue Alumni |
I think that our chapter's biggest problem is finding new members and getting them involved. Although we have five MC's this semester, it seems like involvement tapers off after activation.

I am glad to see that you have begun to communicate in your SOS Group. I look forward to hearing what you have shared with one another. The hope of the National Board and National Alumni Boards is that everyone involved will benefit from this program. Therefore, alumni chapters can also work with their active chapters to learn what they do with their alumni chapters or their alumni relations, etc. If you have any questions, please let me know!

I agree... Our chapter has had really good luck get good rush classes (the past two have been 10&11 girls) but after activation we have girls staying active and involved.
|
....oops, i forgot the most important word in that post! what i meant to say is that we have trouble keeping the girls active and involved!

One issue I am unclear of in this whole thing is which chapter should submit the monthly report? If anyone knows, please let me know!<<
Great ideas! Any one of the chapters in your group can submit the first report, then you rotate for the next month so another chapter turns it in, then the next. Sisters, Beth [This message has been edited by BFulton (edited February 26, 2001).] |

Hey!! Guessing none of you have heard from our chapter since we were all pretty clueless when I brought it up Monday night. LOL. So here's Alpha Omicron at UGA checking in... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Our biggest issue is coming up with good fundraisers and service (particulary ag service) ideas... we're just testing out this and that trying to find what works best here. Our recruiting so far has been great-- 20 charters, 20 Alphas, and 20 Betas! Terri |

Terri,
So 20 must be your chapter's MAGIC number? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Your chapters within the SOS group may also want to mail a list of members, their e-mail addresses, offices and majors/special interests to the other chapters in the group. Then, anyone can feel free to contact a sister with the same office, major, career interest, etc. Good luck! |
Do y'all want to set up an email list? I'll set up the list if you are interested-- I know i check my email more than I check this board, and this thread could grow to unreadable lenghts otherwise. Just let me know who to add (and are there other chapters who haven't been in touch yet who are in our group? I can email their main emails to check on them before I set up the list).
Then maybe we can swap membership/officer lists, etc? Terri |
