J-board questions
Does anyone know the rules on advisors attending meetings of J-board is my first question ? Second question... does anyone know the rules about a member of J-board being kicked off of Jboard and what the reasons could be for that ??
|
Situations where it would be possible to kick someone off J-boards I imagine would be if they had failed to meet minimum requirements of sisterhood, such as not having the GPA, not paying dues etc. Also if a jboard member during their time on jboard takes an eboard position (minus the MAL and the Vice Archon) then they can no longer be on jobard as it says in the National Constitution that Jboard members may not be Eboard members and vice versus minus the two I mentioned. I know every chapter has different things within their local constitution as well so I hesitate to say the reasons that I know are personal to my chapter.

In addition to what has been mentioned, a Jboard member may also be removed for failing to keep Jboard issues confidential.
As for advisors attending the meetings, there should be no problem with them being present. While they may not need to be at every Jboard meeting, if a "bigger" issue is being discussed they should be present. Especially since advisors may be held liable for certain actions of the chapter or individual collegians. |
That's what I thought... we have some issues going on, and though I'm not the J-board or Key advisor, I think I'm going to have to do some damage control. == sigh== anyone PM me if you think you may have some good insight.

I dislike J-Board very much, and maybe it was just at my chapter, but I think it can be abused based on who is MAL/VA.

A potential problem could happen if you have E-board officers on the J-board because then I suppose it could be manipulate by the Executive. However, if this is the case then there is a violation of the National Constitution. |
i am a j-board/MAL advisor & I would suggest some of the exec/committee positions NOT participate. Bursar, SDC, Fundraising, MRC, scholarship. Like someone mentioned before VA is just there to make sure everything is going by the constitution, they CANNOT speak @ all during the meeting.
If your J-Board is being 'abused' then you need an advisor/alum present... plus the members need to be unbiased. If there are problems in the future.. leaking info, etc....I would revote on a whole new J-Board, of course not the MAL or VA. Let me know if I can help anyone!! PM me! |
When I was an undergrad I got called down three times, only one was deserved. I was called down when a sister asked me what I though of her appearance for the composite picture. I told her she should take out her eyebrow ring. I also got called down because someone a couple of groups over thought they heard me telling a PNM at an open bid party that we haze. No one in my group heard me say that but it was my work against hers. And they believed her. But when a sister threatened to beat "the fat cow (me) with a fire extinguisher" because I followed through with my threat not to buy supplies for the house until all the sisters paid their house fees, she did not get into trouble at all. So I'm a little bitter.
