Long-ago Greek Assistance Credited (Delta Gamma)
From the Twin Falls, Idaho paper comes this reminder that Greeks' philanthropic efforts have positive effects and may be remembered for a lifetime :
TWIN FALLS -- Harry B. Turner recently received the Idaho State Bar Association Professionalism Award from the 5th Judicial District. The award is given to at least one attorney in each of Idaho's seven districts who has engaged in extraordinary activity in his or her community, in the state or in the profession, which reflects the highest standards of professionalism. . . . Turner graduated from the University of Idaho with a law degree and was admitted to the Idaho State Bar in 1954. He is visually impaired and credits the members of Delta Gamma sorority for reading his course material to him in law school, thus enabling him to graduate and become a lawyer. He . . . served as a legislator from 1956 to 1964, retired as a federal magistrate in 1982, was a police judge for Twin Falls, and was city prosecuting attorney after 1972. He also was honored recently as having practiced as an attorney for 50 years. See: http://www.magicvalley.com/news/busi...p?StoryID=8063 (The short news item is under the heading "Harry B. Turner.) |
