scholarship

Hello Sisters,
This is the Alpha Lambda Chapter inquiring scholarship ideas. We haven't really had any type of enforced scholarship things. I tried to propose making our girls record at least 30 hours a semester, failure to do so would result in a fine of $2.00 per hour missed and this money would be put toward two awards, one for Highest GPA and one for Most Improved GPA. The girls basically shot it down and don't want to be held responsible. Any suggestion would help.

We only require study hall hours for those sisters with borderline semester GPAs --ex 2.25 or below means you have to study -- and sign a book saying you studied for 6 hours a week in the library or with a tutor or someother study lounge. a 2.5 to a 2.25 means you have to study for 3 hours a week. also we ask that our MC's also study for 3 hours a week -- but our scholarship program is still in the trial and error phase. We have had problems getting our sisters to log their hours properly -- but our new chair is cracking down on the problem.

Hello from the Beta Chapter. I am the new Scholarship Chair and we have just implemented a program where girls can earn points throughout the semester for a dinner for two at the end of the semester. We get points for A's on exams, each study hour attended and GPA improvements. This is the first time we have tried this but it seems to be getting girls to come to study tables more than before. We only require girls to attend 6 hours a semester and so far they are coming each week. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know!

I am the new scholarship chair from the Alpha Eta chapter and we are also looking for ways to reward our members for their grades. We just voted to get our highest gpa, and most improved gpa an award, and also to get a small gift for everyone who is above a 3.0. I am having problems finding a something suitable for the 3.0 and above people (we put a $5 per person limit on it)so if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
Jamie
