U.N. delegate

that crazy looking colonel sanders guy wasn't confirmed was he?

KatieKate1244 04-21-2005 03:59 AM

Bolton? Nope, his confirmation is currently delayed. Some ethical issues (I guess you could call them that) got brought up. Apparently, he withheld information from Rice and some other people and also treats suboridinates like crap.

Too bad because I celebrate his entire catalogue. It doesn't get any better than when he sings When a Man Loves a Woman.

Damn Primo Donna. Ruin it for everybody else.

The thought of that guy being our UN Rep is scary.

Look like everybody is having a second thought about him. Many are encouraging him to withdraw his nomination.

Yeah he doesn't exactly strike me as the most "diplomatic" type... and I admit some of the stories or testimonials about this guy's conduct in the past should be seriously looked into, regardless of his appointment or not.

Tom Earp 04-27-2005 05:21 PM

Wasnt there a Movie about some type of person like this?

Scary at best!:o

Give Him the heave Ho!

While at it, give The UN the same damn thing!

Go back to the Leauge of Nations. It didnt work either!

RACooper 09-03-2005 01:54 PM

Well it looks like Bolton has made his mark on the UN already - a record 700 amendments to proposed reforms to the UN... and unfortuntely it also looks like these amendments are derailing the reform movement (it already was on shakey ground, but still why push it).

So Bolton has objected to the following through his amendments to the reforms:
-commitments to end the worst world poverty within a decade.
-reject the obligation of nuclear weapons states to dismantle their arsenals.
-measures to protect people under threat of massive human rights violations.
-proposed peace-building commission's scope.
-proposed expansion of the Security Council (granting Japan and Germany seats)
-anti-poverty goals that call for contributing 0.7 per cent of their GDPs to help the poorest nations.
-Human rights violators losing their places on a reformed Commission on Human Rights.

Having spent the past two months working at the UN, I can't tell you how proud I am to have that yo-yo as our ambassador.

Not that the organization is all that wonderful -- but it's better than nothing.

Really.

Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.

I've heard this a lot. I hope his good work continues.

That's good to hear - hopefully he continues to do a good job representing the U.S.
