Founders

If you were able ot meet any of you founders what would you ask them? Why?

PhoenixAzul 04-20-2005 10:31 PM

who came up with the idea for "tomo dachi" as opposed to any other sorority name?

tunatartare 04-20-2005 10:31 PM

Do you feel that the sorority today is accomplishing what you wanted it to and is living up to the ideals that you wanted it to when it first started?

FSUZeta 04-20-2005 10:35 PM

i would have so many questions, but off the top of my head:

why white violets? they are SO hard to find

how are we doing? is the present day fraternity anywhere near your vision of her?

what do you think of the politically correct lingo that npc asks us to use?

RioLambdaAlum 04-20-2005 11:41 PM

What was greek life on campus like when you came on campus?
Any suggestions?

Okay so these are only ones my brain can think of this moment...

Contrary to popular belief, I'm not a reincarnation of any founder :), so I can't speak for sure, but I think ANY founder of ANY organization would be proud and thrilled at how much the sisterhood/brotherhood has thrived.

I think a question I would like to ask my CHAPTER'S founders is what was it like forming the first chapter for women on campus? (My chapter was founded in 1875 and was the first women's fraternity/sorority on campus... Greek Life at Mizzou was relatively young at that time as well.)

I would also like to ask the women before me (not necessarily the founders!) how they made the chapter succeed and even grow during the period in our school's history when secret societies were banned.

Finally, I would ask the women (again, not our founders!) what convinced them to help bring Gamma Phi Beta to our campus. (Apparently Kappa helped to bring G Phi here! And it seems interesting to be so willing to bring a chapter that would become competition... I can hardly see it happening today.)

Kind of not founders questions... but I'd still like to know!

I'd ask them how Iota Zeta messures up to Alpha, but I think I already know the answer. I'd ask Brother F (same inital as me) if I was a good Chaplain. He wrote the ritual and also served as Chaplain. My brothers think I was good at it, but I would want to know from him.

I'd want to know how we were measuring up to their vision, and how they were able to start something that just snowballed the way it did.

I'd probably want to buy them a beer, but I don't think any of them drank :)

As far as chapter founders go, I am one, so I buy myself beers all the time ;)

Since I was fortunate enough to get to know our chapter founder before she passed away (our chapter first started in 1917!), I'd like to know a few things from our 1851 Founders. While Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald did leave a "mission statement", I think I'd like to know why they think about the Greek System of today.

*Do we live up to their expections?
*Are they happy with what's been done in their name (for the most part)?
*What would think about sisters wearing t-shirts with letters, as opposed to hoop skirts & bonnets?
*Did they feel strange, being a pioneer as a woman in an American college, and did they take any "abuse" because of it?

The rest of the questions would have to do with the antebellum era, and its demise (clothing, manners, etc), historical matters.

Are you glad that we joined NPC?

Do we have anything to do with Alpha Sigma Phi or is that a coincidence?

Were the other sororities at Farmville supportive of your founding?

Do you think Mrs Martin's involvement was ultimately for the better or worse?

What really happened at those "weekend house parties" with the Hampden-Sydney men? (nudge nudge, wink wink) :p
