is there some kind of verification that takes place to ensure SORORS ONLY purchase items such as these that are sooooo dear to us?

this is absolutely ludicrous:mad:

babe'sbabe 04-19-2005 02:55 AM

Probably not.
It hurts my heart that our precious information can get into the hands of people like this. I wonder how this clown even got the stuff?

Prettyface08 04-19-2005 09:12 AM

This pisses me off

Isn't there some kind of way we can alert Corporate and have them PULL this?!?! I've heard of DST doing something similar to this. This is PRIVATE, SACRED information. I am SOOOOOOOOOOO angry. I WISH i knew who this was.......

A songbook?

Lady Pi Phi 04-19-2005 09:16 AM

I'm sorry for jumping in.

Unfortunately, there is no legal recourse. If the people selling the item has aquired it legally, it's there's to do with as they please.

Many organizations have groups that watch ebay and purchase some of the more historical or significant items so that they do not fall into the hands of non-members. unfortuantely, it's a very expensive task and not everything can be rescued.

Other things you can do are inform your members and maybe your HQ of your ebay screen name so that they know it is a member bidding on an item and not a non-member.

Soror, it said RITUALS too! That's CRAZY!! I don't like it ONE BIT!

Greetings Sorors. I would suggest contacting nationals to have them buy it. That is pretty sad.

KSigkid 04-19-2005 09:46 AM

Unfortunately, things like this happen a lot; there have been other fraternities and sororities that have had this problem. I would contact headquarters and see if there's anything they can do about it.

The problem is that people outside the organization don't respect what someone's ritual stands for - to them, it's just an old book with some interesting information.

A lot of times they come from estates of people who have no living relatives. Whoever is executor sells off their items.

hmmmmmmm. 1949? Alot has changed since 1949. LOL

It's not the first time something has appeared on Ebay. There are plenty of threads in this forum offering a "heads up". I'm sure it won't be the last. Don't have a coronary...

Rituals (official and unofficial) are out there. Just think about members who have been expelled who have that knowledge. What's the difference?
(rhetorical)

If you don't want your sorority items appearing on Ebay, make sure you put your wishes IN WRITING regarding your AKA items after you pass on...
