yes he does! :)

Ryan is very hot in this film, I could have done without the beard, but they needed him to look older for this role.

Typical horror movie, not the best acting or screenplay in the world, but it was entertaining. I didn't see the original, but the friend I went with said this one is better.

i live near amityville and my grandmother lived there before she died. interesting town to begin with...

police are ALL over the place because there has been a non-stop stream of cars checking out the real house over the past week and they're expecting it to get worse.

i have no desire to see the movie--lutz made the whole thing up t gain fame.

I saw the original a long time ago, but I'd be curious to see this one just to compare the two. Maybe I'll rent it when it comes out on DVD or something. Of course, it would've been even better if the story behind it was actually true...that would be scary!

Makes you wonder if anyone is living in the house currently.....

The original scare the bejeezes out of me when I was a kid! There's NO way I'm watching this one!! (In the theatres as least! ;) )

AznSAE 04-16-2005 06:34 PM

ooooh! i love scary movies. i cant wait to watch this one. i might go tomorrow.

RioLambdaAlum 04-17-2005 01:35 AM

I went last night, not having a clue what it was about...how did I not know this was a remake or what this was about is beyond me. Especially since I was talking to my dad tonight and he was like "oh yeah your mom and i saw the original one."
Anyways I don't get scared at scary movies, odd but I don't. HOWEVER I thought it was good and liked it. Someone told me it only got one star, but usually those are the movies that are good since the people who get paid too much to say "its good," or "it sucks," says.

Someone is living there. A previous owner changed the semi-circle windows that looked like eyes into square windows in an attempt to ward off tourists. Recent pictures of the house are here

There's some info about the murders and "haunting" on Amityville FAQ which seems to take the stance that the Lutz family was in fact haunted. The Amityville Murders site talks about how George Lutz made up the hauntings and has lots of info about the DeFeo murders. Court TV's True Crime Library also has some info about the Lutzes and says that George's claims were way too far fetched for them to be an actual supernatural occurrence.

Neat stuff.

I live like ten minutes from where they filmed the new version of Amityville was filmed in Silver Lake, WI. Silver Lake is about an hour and a half from Chicago. A friend of my parents had to go pickup the film that they would film for the day and then take it to O'Hare International. I also know people that worked at the restuant that did the catering for the movie during filming in WI.

yes a family does live there. they refuse to give interviews or answer any questions. they won't even come to the door.

the number on the house has been changed, as well as the actual look of the outside. it's a beautiful house right on a canal. amityville as a town, however, is not a place i would raise my kids. but that's another story...

Now I'm all curious, lol. Why not? It seems like a nice quiet place.

it used to be a quiet little town when my grandma (oma) raised my dad and his siblings there. now there is a lot of crime and the school system is HORRIBLE. can't send your kids there. it's dangerous to walk around certain areas (although other areas are okay), but it has really done a 180 turnaround in the last few decades. it is not a desirable place to live in my opinion.
