New Contests at Convention
 

I just wanted to let everyone know that the National Alumni Association is sponsoring three new events during National Convention this year. All collegiate members are invited to participate in the Prepared Public Speaking Contest. Both collegiate and alumni members/chapters can compete for the Outstanding Scrapbook Award and in the Sigma Alpha Quiz Bowl! And don't forget the Golden Mouse Award for the outstanding chapter website! All the due dates, rules, and registration forms can be found on the national website's "Forms Central" page. We hope to have LOTS of participants so we can continue these events in the future!

I couldn't find rules for the Quiz Bowl. Does the team have to be all alumni or all collegiates? Does the team have to be from the same school?

Since there are still a few loose ends to tie up concerning the quiz bowl, we've not posted official rules yet, so don't feel bad about not being able to find them online! Here's what we have have planned tho:

First, each team will be made up of 4 people. The team can be any combination of alumni and collegiate members. A team can also be composed of members from more than one chapter. The questions will cover all aspects of Sigma Alpha. The best study material would be what you studied for your activation exam. We will also look for questions throughout the chapter guidebook and the website. It looks like we will be able to use a set of quiz bowl buzzers that we'll borrow from the SFASU Alumni Association so reflexes will be a factor! The number of questions asked during each game will depend on the number of teams we have register. That's why it's so important to contact us prior to convention to let us know you're interested!
