All chapters treat SigEp Sweethearts/Pinning differently, but I see no reason why not.

A lot of chapters use different terminology for letting girls wear letters.

In my chapter, pinning is usually for engagement and it allows the girl to wear letters for life. We also call them Sisters after they've been pinned. Sweethearts are girls that we allow to wear letters temporarily.
