Alpha Epsilon Phi Closes U. of Michigan Chapter
Alpha Epsilon Phi has closed its chapter at the U. of Michigan. Risk management issues are cited in the student paper's story:
http://www.michigandaily.com/vnews/d.../42511adc1deec Women will be allowed to live in the house until the end of this semester. AEPhi will retain ownership of the house. |
They were one of the groups who were investigated on hazing issues and found "guilty" by the University in the big hazing "sting" on that campus this year, along with 3 Fraternities. It is no surprise to me that they would maintain ownership of the house. Those are huge, multi-million dollar homes at the U of Mich.

beautiful house...how sad.

I'm saddened too by this...my Mother was the President of the Pi Chapter in the late 1960s (around 1965 or 1966 I think) and some of her closest friends still are her sisters. She just came back yesterday in fact from a week long trip with 3 AEPhi sisters (one of whom was her little sis in the house...how cute!). When I called her this evening to let her know about this she was really upset. Their house is BEAUTIFUL--and it's the house my Mom lived in--the room leading out onto that upper balcony was the President's room.
I hope that AEPhi will be able to re-establish their charter at U of M in the next few years and that these girls can realize the magnitude of what they got themselves into. |

This is a serious situation and I'm sorry to make light of your post, but it seems to me that 1965 or 1966 are in the MID 60's...The same time when I was in college. I graduated in the LATE 60's...notably 1969. Sorry again, it just struck me as funny. It's really too bad about your mom's chapter. I wish her and the chapter all the best. |
