Gearing up for Pre-I?
Hey guys, just got out of our big brother/little brother meeting and we got on the issue of 'pre-i'.. to not go into much detail, of course.. how should I gear up for pre-i?
Jeff p.s. PM if it requires such. |
Beer, lots and lots of beer for two reasons: 1. makes the pain go away 2. the sheep feel better

Here's the advice my big gave me...
You're gonna have the time of your life, because after, you'll be a brother. Remember and savor the experience. It only happens once in your lifetime.
Go into it with an open mind, willing to learn, not only about the brotherhood, but about yourself. The alumni and older brothers there have some sage advice. Listen to their stories. You will carry them with you forever. Be willing to participate. You get out of it what you put into it. Dont be afraid to take a leadership role. |
Jeff, You are very Lucky, You Have a Big. I never had one unless you count George Spaysk when We argued (Discussed) things untill 4:30 AM be for I was Initiated.:)
The anticiapation is pants wetting, but when you make it through (?), you will have a grin that will be on Your face and not able to get it off. Learn what you are supposed to learn to help you in your journey and follow Your Leader. :) As lifesaver said, you only get out of LXA what you put into it! If you notice, there are many Alums on GC who have been doing this from My 40 Years to the last few Years and Andy is a Prime example! Keep us updated. When is Pre I and Intitiation at Nev.? |
Ears and eyes open, mouth shut
|
I'll tell you something that was told to me when I was an AM,
Think, Listen, and Remember. Think, that you may make wise choices, Listen, that you may gather knowledge, and Remember our secrets and teachings all the rest of your life. |
Sage Advice Brother Matt!
Jeff, dont worry to much!:) Study, learn, listen, and use Your Best judgement. If you have any questions that can be answered PM Me or talk to Your High Pi, Brother Bud Pierce, He is a stalwart! Oh, for Grins, He is one of My Brothers of LX Z! |
My Big Brothers advice...
As others have also said, but bears repeating:
Keep your eyes and eyes open at all times. Even "trivial" matters may be significant come the actual Ritual. Everything SHOULD be geared towards something you will experience in Ritual. Don't be afraid. Don't be afraid to ask question, and don't be frustrated if they can't answer them. You'll understand later. Don't forget what the High Kappa told you in the AM ceremony: You will be asked to do nothing a true man should not or cannot do. Best way to describe Ritual: A crystal-clear blur. Things about your life that won't change: Any questions? |
Just have fun man! It's not the actual ritual that is so "life changing," it is the friendships, memories, crisis, and fun that you have with the fraternity that is truly life changing.
Obviously be respectful, don't start laughing or cracking jokes or anything, but HAVE FUN! Don't take it too seriously. You won't remember anything from it anyway, barely anyone does. It's when you are on the other side performing it is when things make sense. Anyways, the stinging only lasts a couple a days and the human body has a wonderful way of healing itself for everything else. Just remember to go slowly, sheep don't like sudden movements. |

Yes please take it seriously b/c you only go thru once and yes, Have Fun....I agree with him on that... Keep your eyes and ears open....... and when you become a brother, attend ritual as much as you can b/c the more you see it, the more you learn from it...... If your chapter has brothers only meetings/seminars ( usually led by the High Phi )to discuss the aspects of our ritual in our daily lives, by all means attend every meeting you can...... Brothers, I have been talkin some with Jeff online and let me tell everyone here and now....Jeff is one fired up associate and I restate that he is gonna make one hell of a brother of LCA!!!! |
I wish someone gave me and my pledge class the same advice, I mean it is amazing at how hard those sheep can kick! I just thank God I am taller than most and only got some bruised thighs and shins. A few more inches and my child bearing abilities may have been affected! Remember, no sudden movements!
|
Another piece of advice....
If you have time one night before Pre-I, take the time to relax...like go to a movie, spend time with your family and/or do something that will take your mind off of school and related activities for maybe just one night..... It will be a long week but when it is over, Jeff, you and your fellow associates will be brothers in the GREATEST FRATERNITY ON THE PLANET!!!!! |
Amazing, no one asked Jeff when Initiation is?
It may be this weekend, Who knows.;) |
