West Wing Addicts.
West Wing is my favorite show.
lAst nights episode was one of the best in a long time. 1. Damn Charlie how do you get cuaght boning the presidents duaghter in the White House. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_56.gif 2. I think Santos is going to win the democratic election. 3. I dont thing whoever wins the general election the show is going to be as good with the new staff. 4. CJ is going to be fired or imprisoned for leaking that story about the military space shuttle. |
I love that show as well...I only was able to catch the end though.
I agree with you that Santos will win - if you paid attention to the part where they showed next week's episode, you could see pretty clearly that it was Jimmy Smits. Plus, I don't think he would have just signed on for a few episodes. I read an interview with the series creators a month or so ago, and they didn't rule out the possibility of a Republican president and going on with that scenario. I think Alda is good in the show, but I think they would have to change too much for him to be the new star. It will be interesting to see what happens next week. |
It was a great episode last night. There have been a couple of fairly weak ones recently, I think.

Anybody else watching the season premiere?

I watched it. Not sure this show held together as well as I would have liked, but it sure has the makings of a great season.

I don't think it's CJ. If anything, I think it's Toby for a couple of reasons:
1) He seemed to be surprised that he was invited to the library dedication; 2) Richard Schiff has already said he won't be on more than 5 episodes this season. |

I'm going to re-watch the episode tonight, but I'm interested to hear people's speculations on who will be the next president.
I'm starting to follow some of the spec in the TWOP West Wing threads that Santos/McGarry will end up coming out on top, but that something will happen to make Santos have to step down. Leo then becomes the head of the ticket, and Sam Seaborn comes back as his VP. |

I totally missed the bit about Toby being surprised about being asked to the dedication...need to watch it again, but LOL about CJ & Danny. So sad that Josh couldn't hire Donna. I'm sad this is probably the last season, and hope it goes out with a bang... |
I think Donna will end up working for Josh in some capacity, just not as his deputy on the campaign. If Santos/McGarry (or McGarry/Seaborn) end up in the O. at the end of the season, I could totally see Donna as Josh's Deputy CoS, or even better, the WH Press Secretary.
If she didn't have an official postion in the O., wouldn't she have been in the opening teaser? |

If she didn't have an official postion in the O., wouldn't she have been in the opening teaser? Good observation ole wise one! :) the writing has improved greatly since Aaron Sorkin has left and i saw that by the season premiere......coming from one who has been obessed with the show since day one. Though i agree with the Toby observation, afterall his brother works for NASA as an astronaut. Brotherly inside info being traded I bet, however C.J has this deer caught in the headlights look to her.....though i love the opening teaser about Danny and CJ having a baby. I hope this isnt the last season because i REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY want Rob Lowe to come back to finish it off if it does go off the air! I mean i struggled watching that lifetime series ( Boring) with him beause i am in love with him!!! bring him back and give him more money!!!!!!!!!:D |
I think the only way they can bring Rob back and pay him the money he wants is after Martin Sheen is off the show. One of the reasons that Sorkin was let go (in addition to not turning in scripts on time) was that he was VERY spendy when it came to the show, and the network wanted them to cut back drastically.
You're the only person I've heard who said that the writing has improved under John Wells. I hate to admit it, but in some respects I kind of agree. The last two seasons have been the first time I've been able to watch the show without subtitles because people speak more clearly and distinctly now. They're not trying to jam in all that Sorkin-esque dialogue in 15 seconds. :) BTW - Sorkin has said that he wants to write the final episode of the show, whenever it airs. He's also said that if he writes that episode, he wants Rob Lowe involved somehow. The ratings for the premiere were terrible, so I'm thinking that this is the last season for TWW, and that's yet another point to my spec that we're going to see a McGarry/Seaborn ticket (or Seaborn/McGarry) before the season is out! |
