House rules?
What are the rules in your house? (In terms of curfew, etc.)
Are they very strictly enforced? I'm just curious as to what everyone does. :) |
Tau Delta has no house curfew. there are just rules about common area cleanliness. I believe girls are allowed to have male visitors as long as they let everyone else know and it's discussed ahead of time.
Edit!: forgot about this... no smoking, drinking (or possession) of alcohol, no drugs. Non-house residents should respect the privacy of house residents and clean up after themselves (a big issue during pledging when we're all there all the time). As a general rule, bedrooms are out of bounds unless you're invited in. |
We don't have a curfew but no men are allowed in the dorm section of the house at all. Men may be in the common areas (sitting room, den, living room, & dining room) until midnight. No alcohol, no smoking, and no drugs are allowed either. Preferably, no food is allowed anywhere except in the dining room, but that is hard to enforce. Smoking is allowed on the patio outside. Mini-fridges will be not allowed starting this fall because they can ruin the hardwood floors in the bedrooms.

A list of our rules
No alcohol in the house (very strictly enforced) No drugs in the house. Smoking preferably on the deck or 3rd floor Open Air, but if your roommates don't mind you can smoke in your room. Must be wearing a shirt on the first floor No cursing on the first floor Pledges/new initiates answer the door and phone No food in the chapter room (hard to enforce, especially during the week) |
We have a few rules...no alcohol and girl above the first floor. That's about it.
Not enforced at all though. It's funny when I wake up in the morning. I get up at like 5:30 for army pt, and I can hear the sound of like 10 girls heels leaving every morning from various parts of the house. |
Hmm... no alcohol and drugs AT ALL. No smoking in the house, but it can be done in our parking lot.
No boys in the house past 2 a.m. and no boys allowed in the dining room until 10 a.m. No boys upstairs AT ALL unless it's move in or move out day. (Sometimes exceptions are made for game day.) No non-members in the basement. Shoes must always be worn on the first floor and no cursing on the first floor. Pajamas can only be worn to breakfast. Whoever is in the youngest pledge class in the room must answer doors and phones before older members. No food and drink outside of the dining room. No food in your room.... blah blah, same as everyone else!! |
Our biggest house rules are:
We have no curfew really as long as when you come in, you are quiet and respectful. No males anywhere except the common areas, though they are allowed upstairs to use the bathroom and to help girls move things at the beginning of the year. Males are only allowed in these common areas until 11:30 during the week and 1:30 Fridays-Sundays. No smoking, alcohol, drugs or pets (except fish). Smoking is permitted outside behind the house. Your visitors are welcome as long as they respect those who live in the house. No overnight guests for longer than 48 hours. This is only really an issue when girls have friends from out of town visiting. Non members should stay in the common areas unless accompanied by a sister. (Basically if you invited Suzy Q over, she shouldn't be upstairs looking in girl's rooms and things because she should be either with you upstairs in YOUR room, or down in the common areas). |
Interesting.
Our rules were No smoking No drugs Don't slam the door Answer the phone if you are near it Clean up your own dishes or the garbage can might eat them Keep your personal belongings in your own room Pretty simple really...:) Then all the college rules which were pretty laid back.. Question: Who enforces curfew? A house mom?? an RA? What happens aftercurfew? Do you get fined? locked out??? |
