I have seen posts stating that some threads have already been posted and people should use their search functions to find the original threads. Is there a directory thread listing the links to those original threads? There are beaucoup threads in many of these forums, and my search attempts have pulled up numerous matches.

Yeah, you're right. The search function can be frustrating.

I don't believe there is a directory of threads, but you can search a particular forum for certain threads instead of the whole board. That can be done at the bottom of the particular forum or by using the pulldown menu on the search page.

They don't clean out the forums over here. That's why threads with greeklife subjects are irrelevant in the greeklife forum.

Using the search engine is a waste of time on GC. Just recreate the thread and tell the naysayers to get over it. Your spin on the topic will probably be more thought provoking, anyway.

Search Function can and will be frustrating.

Type in Key Words and then try to find it. If not, start a Thread.:)

I some times want to delete Threads, but, low and behold, someone finds it by going back and digs it up.

Actually, some "OLD" Threads should be deleted to My Small mind!:D

Its a lot easier to use than you might think. Try limiting your searches to titles only. That usually works. Play around with the other options too.

The other major problem with the search function is that it doesn't recognize words that are less than four letters, so if you're searching for Phi, Chi etc you need to add a * at the beginning or end to make it long enough. Very frustrating.

I also noticed that using quotations to search didn't find the exact phrase like it would on Google, which would really be useful.

That's the one thing I have about vBulletin boards - worst search function ever lol.
