Prayer Request

I am asking for everyone's prayers for a sister of the Theta Alpha chapter that has been in the ICU unit at the local hospital since Monday. She is on a ventilator and is not "out of the woods" at all. It has been touch and go for a couple of days now. Today was her best day though! They weren't sure what it was but they have finally come to a conclusion that they feel it was something to do with the infection that she had in her throat that got into her tissue and blood and she is now septic. It has been a long couple of days and I am hoping that tomorrow will be another "good" day. I want to thank you all ahead of time for your thoughts and prayers.

Update

Well - it's been a month now...Sorry that i haven't been able to post but things have been a little busy with everything going on.

She is still in an ICU unit but they transferred her closer to her parents so she is in a hospital in Grand Rapids. She was on a vent the entire time she was here and they just took her off the vent on Sunday. It was a really hard road. We almost lost her 3 different times but things are now getting better. They have now diagnosed her as having Lemierre's Syndrome. I guess it is a really really rare disease. I'm just glad they finally found out what was causing all of this. She is a very lucky girl. She spoke her first words since being in a drug induced coma on Friday. Glasses and TV! :) She has a really hard road ahead of her. They are hoping that her lungs will be back to 70%! Not great but at least she pulled through! :) They are hoping to have her out of the hospital within the next couple of weeks. WOW - I kind of wish that we would of started a diary of everything that was happening. She lost 1 month of her life (being in a coma). I just wish she was here so we could talk to her and see her. But she knows we are with her!

I strongly recommend to all of you to have a roll a dex of all the women's social secruity numbers, date of births, parents' contact number (home and work) and if she has any allergies or is a diabetic. These are the types of things that the hospital needs to know when they are admitting a patient. This would of helped us in the situation vs. trying to find the info!

Thanks for all the prayers. Keep praying as she has a very long road of recovery ahead - but hey, at least she is still here!

Renee, that's a really good idea, you should submit it to CO. I would have never thought about something like that.

Carolyn-

Thank you! She is having a hard time with this. I can't imagine how she feels...Life going on around her for almost 1 1/2 months and not to remember/know anything! Scary! Things are looking up though - the women in the chapter have been through a lot and (said to say) it's brought us soooo much closer together. I just wish that it wouldn't take these kind of things - but it was great to see everyone (including alumnae) pull together at times like these.
