Who Looks Bad/Good on HDTV

For whatever it's worth...

Hi-Anxiety in HDTVland
New York Post

Cameron Diaz's status as a reigning sex-goddess is under attack - by high-definition TV.

Diaz tops a list of celebrities for whom the harsh lens of HDTV is not a good thing.

The acne-prone "Charlie's Angel" star, 32, "looks more like a Charlie than an angel" according to the entertainment guide, OnHD.TV, which put out a top-10 list of celebs who look worse on HDTV.

"In the 'Charlie's Angels' movies they're showing in HD on HBO, she almost looks like a burn patient," said Phillip Swann, media industry commentator and president of OnHD.TV.

HDTV is six times clearer than normal TV and like other technical innovations - talking movies, come to mind - may spell the end of some actors' careers.

But while some celebs appear to be hit with the ugly stick on HDTV, others are revealed to be even more luscious, according to the guide.

Anna Kournikova, 23, looks "unbelievable," according to Swann's analysis. "She may not be able to play tennis, but God blessed her in other ways," gushed Swann.

Angelina Jolie, No. 8 on the good-looking list, has one negative - a small mole on her forehead.

"In high-def, it looks like Mt. Everest," the survey writers says.

Winners
1. Anna Kournikova - "It's more like love-Anna"
2. Catherine Zeta-Jones - "Gorgeous and it shows"
3. Charlize Theron - "Glowing"
4. Sting - "In his 50s, still looks great"
5. Scarlett Johansson - "Skin of a porcelain doll"
6. Halle Berry - "Irresistible"
7. George Clooney - "Animal magnetism is legendary"
8. Angelina Jolie - "Only negative: A small mole "
9. Liv Tyler - "Looks so great"
10. Penelope Cruz - "Tom broke up with her?"

Losers
1. Cameron Diaz - "Terrible acne"
2. Michael Douglas- "Looks like Kirk"
3. Britney Spears - "Looks 10 years older - wrinkle marks around lips"
4. Brad Pitt - "Terrible skin problem"
5. Jewel - "Needs help with makeup"
6. Renee Zellweger - "Rosacea problem is very visible in high-def"
7. William Devane - "Duck and cover"
8. Bill Maher - "Scary in high-def"
9. Jamie Lee Curtis - "Looks like a guy - buy botox and a wig"
10. Joan Rivers - "Count the stitch marks from various surgeries"

I don't think Joan Rivers could look good in any situation.

I have noticed this too---- I have switched between HD and non-HD to look at the difference. It is amazing what you can see in HD.

well DUH.

This reminds me of the silent film stars whose careers ended because they had heavy accents or squeaky voices.
