Letter to my Sisters

Dear Pi Phi Sisters,

I have been very absent from GC over the last few months. I wanted to explain to you why and also give you a little update about my life.

The past year of my life was very difficult. I was for a long time involved in a very toxic relationship with a guy, and I refused to see his behavior for what it was. Being with him for so long dredged up a lot of other issues in my life for me. When our relationship ended at the beginning of this schoolyear, I had a hard time readjusting to single life and to working out my problems on my own.

In the past couple months a lot has happened for me. I have a wonderful and supportive new guy (a Lambda Chi!) in my life. It had been so long since I was in a functional relationship I almost forgot what they are like. I went to TGC interviews (didn¡¦t get the position, but oh well!) and I wrapped up my term as President of my chapter. I have been accepted into two excellent Ph.D. programs in history (at UNC-Chapel Hill and UT-Austin) and am trying to decide where to go!

I have also taken a lot of time for self-improvement and self-discovery in the past few months. Emotionally, I am feeling a lot stronger than I was even two months ago, which is a great feeling.

Right now I am posting because I am going to try to make a commitment to being active and returning to GC. I have been very preoccupied in the past few months, but I have missed all of my online sisters greatly!

I might still be absent for the next week or two as I finish up W&L¡¦s Winter Term exams. Those of you who know me well know how to reach me online, anyway, but I will always check PMs or reported posts. ƒº

PPL,
Susan

bless your heart, it's tough to go through something like that but you are stronger for it and surely have nothing but good times and success ahead of you. Best of luck with choosing a grad program!
