sleepover

hey everyone -

i was wondering if i could get some help. i'm hosting a sleepover for my pledge class this weekend - can anyone think of some bonding games or anything? any fun ideas would be awesome. we just got initiated and decided to have the sleepover because a lot of us felt that we didn't know everyone else well enough yet (45 of us!).

thanks so much!

Something that we did in the past was to make frames. Buy the art supplies like paint, brushes, & plain wooden frames. Put each sisters name in the hat & then do a random drawing. You then have to paint the frame for the sister & gift it to her.
Something else we did to go along with this activity was to have someone take a picture of each girl w/the person she was giving the frame to. That way, they all have pictures with another sister to put in the frame.
I hope this helps!

one of our first events was that we all had to bring our favorite snack (skittles, mand m's, etc ). When we got there, we all sat around and had to figure out who brought what snack and why we thought that and then we explained why we actually brought it. Everything went into a huge bowl and we got to pig out at the end.

Have a talent show where they make up songs with chi omega (I assume) in it and perform them for the group. They could be in groups of 6 or 7 with people they do not know yet (split of the cliques) I did this and the girls had so much fun. We even used one for a performance for LCA Watermelon Bust the next week!Examples:
"How sweet it is to be a Chi-O" James Taylor How sweet it is...
"If you wannabe a Chi-O" Spice Girls Wannabe
"Pledging Chi Omega" CCR/Tina Turner Rollin on a River

just found this one.....
Get a beach ball, blow up and on each color, write a different question. They can be: what's your worst date? what drew you to the sorority? what's your biggest dream? etc. make some serious and some funny. toss the ball from person to person. before each pass, have someone call out a color and a finger (red ring finger). chances are, more than one finger will be on a color at a time. each person answers the question on the ball, then toss again.

also......positive papers (good to do at end of sleepover)
give everyone a piece of paper and have them write their name (they can make it all fancy and cute, but don't let it take up too much space). pass them around the group and have everyone write something nice about each person on their paper. it's kinda like writing in a yearbook. after everyone has written something on everyone else's paper, give them back. Instead of passing around, you could also tape to a wall or on different tables and girls could walk around to each. This will probably take about an hour since there are so many of you.

last one and only b/c i love it! it has many different names, but you can call it "All my Chi O sisters." Set up is like Duck, Duck, Goose. One person in the middle and everyone else in a circle facing the middle. If you can have people in chairs (except middle person), that's great. Other wise, just have them stand in a circle. You can have them put a shoe in their "spot" to help keep track of spots.

the person in the middle says "All my Chi O sisters _______" and fills in the blank. It can be something that you have done (All my chi o sisters that have done sky diving), never done (travelled out of the country), are wearing (flip flops) or a physical characteristic (color/length hair, eyes, tattoo). Whoever in the group meets that criteria must get up and move to a different spot in the circle. you cannot move to the spot next to you and you cannot stay in the same spot. if you do, you are the new "it" girl and go to the middle. play as long as you like. for your group, maybe about 30 minutes or so. you will be able to tell when they are getting tired.

good luck! i hope you have lots of fun!

At one of the sleepovers my "new member" sisters and I had, we wrote completely generic questions on pieces of paper and throw it all in a basket, then took turns pulling them out and having each person answer them. The questions could be wicked serious, or wicked stupid - but make sure you have some of both, because it mixes it up a bit.

I don't know if these would work with such a big group, but I remember the sisterhood sleepover my sorority had right after I was initiated. It was a ton of fun. We devided into two teams and did an "Iron Chef" competition for dinner. One team was Italian and made pasta and salad w/Italian dressing. The other team was Chinese and made fried rice. Then we had a pseudo-scavenger hunt. But instead of going places to find stuff, you'd look in the stuff you brought. The items were stuff like facewash, deoderant, pajama pants, nailpolish, eyeliner, etc. We were in teams and whoever got the item out of their bag and to the front of the room fastest, won points for their team. And at the end of the game, everyone got a prize (chocolate :) ). And then afterwards, we gave each other makeovers and did each others' hair and took before and after pictures.

That's fun!! We did that at a retreat I went to in high school for RYLA.

I forgot another thing that we did. On our chapter's website, each sister has a profile (year, major, birthday, likes, dislikes, goals in life, and favorite quotes). Our VP sisterhood used those things as answers for a jeopardy game. We played in teams and had to answer in the form of a question. So it would be like:

Host: Her goal in life is to become a successful lawyer and make lots of money, so when she retires, she can buy a ranch and breed horses.

Team 1: Who is Emily?

It was a really interesting game, cuz I learned new things about my sisters. Plus, it made me want to go look at everyone's profiles afterwards.

I hope these ideas have helped.

No to the naked pillow fights though. :p

I suggest mud wrestling. Or the guess whose wallet this is game. Or that thing with the string and you have to fiugre it out without touching. I'm trashed, don't listen to me.

I always loved hook up tag. don't know if it is a slumber party game cause its kinda of something that you play outside at a park.
Anyway, have fun.

Oh, just thought of the game where you grab hands and then have to unwind yourselves to make a cirlce without letting go of the other peoples hands. I think that it is fun cause i like to solve problems, but if you want something to start out with it is a nice "ice breaker" to get things going. Then again, maybe not a sleepoever games.
