Rush songs
Hey all!
I was wondering if you guys knew of any cutesy songs for rush. I think our selection is a little small and my brain is dead from finals and I can't think of any cute ones! I know there's soe song to the tune of Oscar Meyer (Oh I wish I was a Kappa Kappa Gamma...) but I don't know any other lyrics. If anyone could either help me with songs or point me to somewhere I could find some, Epsilon Delta at Arizona State would greatly appreciate it. I know a bunch of cute rush songs, but how will you be able to hear the tune? Hmmm... I'll just start with the ones that go to familiar tunes... 1) To the tune of "Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega (You know that part that goes, Doo-do-Doo-do, Doo-do-Doo-do, Do Do do-do doo-do-doo-doo)--so descriptive, I know, but those are the actual lyrics. Anyway, here are the KKG lyrics: Kappa Kappa Gamma KKG Go Kappa Gamma (woo!) Kappa Kappa Gamma KKG Go Kappa Gamma Come with me to KKG The only place for you to be Go Kappa! Go Kappa! I know it is a famous tune, but i can't figure out what it's from K-a-pp-a, Kappa Kappa Kappa Gamma K-a-pp-a, KKG for me! (woo!) 4) I love this song, again, though, I don't know how to describe the tune. It's very upbeat and cute: Got along without ya Before I met ya Couldn't get along without ya now Found a little golden key And boy I'm happy now Got rushed by ev'ry sorority But KKG appealed to me Got along without ya Before I met ya Couldn't get along without ya now! 4) Does your chapter do "On the Heart of Each Sister"? Mine didn't, but the last chapter I advised (U. of Iowa) and the current chapter I advise (Babson College) do... it's so pretty! I just thought of 2 more really cute ones that I've heard:
(1) to the tune of "Sweet Home Alabama": Sweet Home, Kappa Gamma How I love your blue and blue (yes I do) Sweet Home, Kappa Gamma Come and see, and you'll love it too (yes it's true)... (that's all I can remember, but it was so cute!) (2) to the tune of Copa Cabana (you'll have to find something else to rhyme with "cabana"... I went to Indiana U., so that's why we used that rhyme... At the Kappa Kappa Cabana It's the hottest spot at Indiana Here at the Kappa Kappa Cabana Friendship and laughter Will be here ever after At Kappa.... You'll fall in love. Hope those help!! I was totally trying to think of words for Kappa Kabana, but I kept getting stuck!!! That's SOOOO much for the songs- they'll be a great help, even if we have to make up different tunes!! Rah Rah is my favorite for rush! We sing it actually when we pass out bids to the girls! They love it!

I don't know if any of you sing "Hag 'n Hag" (preferred drinking song of Zeta Epsilon), but if you know it, there's a Rush version too:

Hello Kappas!!! I'm new to this forum, but I wanted to list some of my chapters KKG songs...during rush we have a whole round where we sing a TON of songs so here are some of them...
SONG #1: (it's really fast and upbeat!) Oh when a Kappa girl walks down the street she's got a look on her that's hard to beat she's got the smile, that style, that winning way and when you look at her you'll POP your eyes and say you'll say "now there's a girl I'd like to know, she's got that Kappa spirit PEP and GO PEP and GO (move arm up & down here) look at her she's quite a treat it's hard to beat a Kaaaappppppaaaaa giiiiiirrrrrlllll K-A-P-P-A K-A-P-P-A G-A-M-M-A kappa kappa gamma hey!!!!! SONG #2: (there's harmony in this one and it sounds awesome!!!) They call it that good ol' blue and blue and them that refuse it are few (Mighty few) you can look all around, but nothing can be found that is better than that good ol' blue and blue My old aunt sue had some friends true and true they've been friends since their days at TCU (school initials) (Yee Haw) when i asked her just why she started to cry nothing's better than that good ol' blue and blue (ah uh) Chorus (from above) When i first came to school i had friends that were few i felt so lost and alone (boo hoo) but my life changed quickly when I pinned on that key nothing's beter than that good ol' blue and blue (ah uh) Chorus SONG #3: how'd you like to be a KKG? How'd you like to wear the golden key? do the things that all the kappas do wear the blue and blue be ever loyal true kappa gamma she's the best of all friendships made that never seem to fall come and join the best fraternity and be a kappa kappa gamma with me (clap clap) how'd you like to wear the sigma delta pin and the colors blue and blue? there is nothing more in all the world in all the world the kappa colors true other girls may rush you for a while they may thrill you through and through but you'll never leave when the KKG's say we want you SONG #4: (this one has motions and goes to thank god i'm a country boy) the stuff in parentheses is somthing that just one girl says well, life as a kappa is kinda laid back but nothing an ol' kappa like me can't hack (late to bed) (later in the sack) thank god i'm a kappa gam! this simple kind of life never did us no harm growing in the sisterhood with all its special charm (work all day long) (don't study worth a darn) thank god i'm a kappa gam CHORUS: we've got us our pickers with them on the fiddle and tuesday morning there's cake on the griddle plain outside but blue in the middle thank god i'm a kappa gam when the work's all done about 2 am we crawl into bed and we talk about the men (go to sleep at 9) (got a class at 10) thank god i'm a kappa gam! well i'd play hookey everyday if i could but the Lord and the grades wouldn't take it very good (so i study just a little) (and i play when i should) thank god i'm a kappa gam! CHORUS those fraternity guys driving big limosines they all think us kappas are pretty neat and keen they say to each other (let me tell you what i mean) thank god i'm a kappa gam we're kappas through and through 'til the day we die even at the pearly gates we're side by side (slip st. peter the ol' grip with pride) thank god i'm a kappa gam! slow down: we thank the Lord daily for loving us so well He knows all our secrets but he won't tell you won't find a kappa way down in hhhhhhuuuuhhhhhh well..... thank god i'm a kappa gam!
