do you think it's a good idea for sophomores to go thru rush if they did not get a bid or were cut from rush as freshman? Does anyone know about the success of sophomores rushing at Auburn? I have heard it's tough.

I go to Auburn, and I know 2 girls personally who went through recruitment a second time (as sophomores) and got their first choice sorority. So it can be done.

Just judging from the several years' worth of Greek Women's Averages, it looks like a 3.0 or (probably preferably) higher would be desirable. Each sorority will have its own GPA guidelines or requirements.

If you've been through formal recrutiment and COB, and have not received a bid, or you've declined a bid, then I recommend you investigate other campus activities. There are other GLOs that are not NPC -- like national pre-professional clubs, honor societies and service organizations, just to name a few. You will enjoy similiar leadership, personal development and fraternal opportunities as you would with an NPC group, and as with all campus organizations, including sororities, the time committment is what you make of it.

It is your choice to re-rush, and I wish you the best with whatever you decide. There's nothing wrong with you for not being bidded to the sorority of your choice, and there are a huge number of ways to become involved on campus. I hope you find the best organization that fits your goals and needs.

You may want to examine the reasons that you want to go greek, and see if you can get the same thing from another organization such as a service sorority or a club of some sort. (I think that was suggested above. :)

Another thought is that just by going through rush you meet all kinds of new and interesting people and can usually make some new friends in several different houses even if that doesn't result in a bid.

I think a lot of it depends on what you did during Recruitment. Did you limit your choices to only one house? Did you go for sororities that you didn't fit in well with, but they were "top choices"? Did you not have any recs? If you did something along these lines and realize your mistake, then I think going through a second time is a viable option, but know that your choices are going to be limited by being a sophomore and being a second-time rushee.

If you put your best effort forward and didn't limit your choices, then I would probably reconsider and check out some other campus organizations. Checking out other campus organizations is probably a good idea anyway because if you do decide to re-rush, they will see that you are involved on campus. If not, then you have something to be involved in.
