Great Philanthropy Ideas...?

I know many of our chapters have done great things with the North American Food Drive, but I want to hear some of the other awesome philanthropies our chapters have been holding.

This will be useful for all the members of this board as we get to share ideas for new and creative fundraisers, events, etc and take them back to our chapter.

If you have a great idea for the food drive, post that too.

Ways this can be useful: I'm looking to get my chapter involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, but I haven't really thought of any clever ways to get this done. I would like to hear your ideas to see if any of them would be applicable.

Hot-Tub-A-Thon : Ronald Mc Donald House.

Western Week : Combonation of daily events.

This Year: Watermelon Bust on Mon. Others will be a Poker Tounement, Dunk Tank and other things that the Zeta is working on. Collect canned goods and money for local food pantry.

North American Food Drive: Standing at Local Grocers, passing out and picking up sacks in local neighborhoods working with Sororities for PR.

Founders Day Auction: Fund raiser for the Zeta.

We have done a hot tub a thon in the past, lot of fun. Did a car bash last year and doing it again this year, great PR. I think the guys are doing a book drive at the end of the semester, collecting all teh books that the university doesnt buy back and donating them to a school or charity of some kind. Every fall for the past couple year we have done a park clean up in baltimore.

For NAFD we did a Tettor-taddorathon with all 3 soroitries on campus to raise money which then went towards our total. then for halloween we went tricker-treating with a soroitry to raise food. Also here in the whitewater area we have some subdivisions that we always go to and drop of bags and then a week later we pick then up.

then early spring we do a polar bear fund raiser to raise money for relay for life which we do in the summer and we also do other fundraisers during spring too.

and all year round we have a 2 mile portion of road that we clean up in whitewater. plus we have a quad on campus that we clean up too.

How do other Zeta's do the Watermelon Bust/Wars/Bash?

Last year was the first year my chapter did it and it was purely social, but I have heard of other groups doing it as a philanthropy with the food drive. How exactly does that work?

Bump.

Would really appreciate any input.
