St Pattys Day

Question for everyone what is there plans for tommorrow/ St pattys Day?

Mine is to be at the Lambda house for breakfest then the brothers of age are heading to the bars at 6am

Step 1: Walk or ride down to the club district downtown

Step 2: Become sufficiently hammered consuming massive quantities of green beer

Step 3: Stumble/ride home.

I understand that they're going to have a lot of live music, parades and stuff down there Thursday night. Will be a good time.

Murphy's for an early Irish dinner and then it's off to work at the bar for me.

I only work till midnight, so hopefully I'll be able to catch the tail end of the block parties in Waikiki.

Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast

Wearing of the Green

Ham & Cabbage with boiled potatoes for dinner

Irish Coffee & Soda Bread

And probably rewatching "Waking Ned Devine"!

Edited to add: I grew up in a suburb called Castle Shannon, with green fire trucks & green police cars, and as a beginning majorette, we always wore green uniforms & won the twirling division at the St. Patrick's Day Parade!

NCAA Basketball Tournament

Starting the day (9:20 a.m. Pacific) with University of Kentucky Alumni and Wildcat Fans at our local game watch site (sports bar) to watch The University of Kentucky Wildcats take on Eastern Kentucky. With some Makers Mark and Guinness I'm sure.

Then we'll just have to see where it goes from there.

GO CATS!

Working but of course! But then there are plans in the works to possibly meet some of my sisters out (Peaches, paging Peaches, come in Peaches........). Maybe link up at some of the NYPD/FDNY events.

Irish Coffee and Soda Bread sounds like a plan!

And green is my favorite color, so I'll definitely be wearing some!

DeltAlum 03-16-2005 06:34 PM

I'll have to try to remember to wear my "O'Halloran's Tipperary Pub" jacket to work tomorrow.

Other than that, the Irish pubs are just too crowded, so maybe a beer or two at the clubhouse where we live.

I took the day off to go the parade in NYC (I'll be going to one in Brooklyn on Sunday too!) then its home for corn beef, cabbage and potatoes. none of my friends really go out and party on St. Patricks day but there will be a big party on Friday night.

I told a couple of friends that I'd go to the bars with them at noon. I have a class at 2:30. This could be interesting.

Then going out again around 9 or 10.

This time last year I was in New Orleans, so anything that Madison can provide is probably going to pale in comparison . . .

What is it with corned beef and cabbage, anyway? *barf*

When I was growing up, my family's St. Patrick's Day tradition was:
- Corned beef and cabbage with boiled potatoes for dinner. Beer to drink. Little aephi alum got water.
- Then, Irish coffee and soda bread. Little aephi alum got plain coffee with whipped cream, no whiskey (hence, no point). Slightly older aephi alum got half a shot of whiskey in her coffee. Teenaged (and devious) aephi alum snuck back into the kitchen with her mug and added the other half shot. :p
- This was accompanied by the obligatory viewing of The Quiet Man. Little aephi alum loathed it. Big aephi alum also loathes it, but she doesn't have to sit through it any more. :)

My mother knows how to cook many things well... cabbage is not one of them. So many Irish goodies out there... what's wrong with a nice stew? But no, it HAD to be corned beef and cabbage, even though I complained every year. To this day, I cannot eat corned beef (even without the cabbage).
