At bottom: · PRIOR CASES
Somebody was making nighttime visits to farmer Terry Patterson's sheep barn in the 600 block of Big Mount Road in Paradise Township, police said.

Patterson told police he saw the evidence of several sexual assaults on his sheep, but never the intruder.

So he installed an alarm and intercom system.

It sounded about 3 a.m. Tuesday. Patterson went to the barn while his wife, Cindy, called 911.

Patterson told Northern York County Regional Police he peered in the barn window and saw a man assaulting a sheep, according to an arrest affidavit filed in District Justice Gerald Shoemaker's office.

Bruce Charles Englar, 53, of the 4600 block of Bentz Road in North Codorus Township, is charged with felony burglary for entering a building with the intention of committing a crime, namely, having sexual intercourse with a sheep.

Officer Patrick Gartrell of Northern Regional Police was patrolling nearby when 911 dispatched him to the Pattersons' home. He heard the farmer yelling in the barn, telling someone to stop. The officer ran toward a man dressed in black and ordered him to stop and put up his hands.

"I found baler's twine in Englar's back pocket, matching the twine that was hanging in the barn," Gartrell wrote in the affidavit.

Police allege the twine was to be used to secure the sheep for sexual intercourse.

Duty District Justice Nancy Edie also arraigned Englar by video camera on charges of criminal attempt to have sex with an animal, criminal trespass, possessing the instruments of crime and loitering and prowling at night.

Englar had parked his car several hundred feet south of the Pattersons' home, jumped over a fence surrounding the barn and walked in, according to the affidavit.

Englar allegedly told police he was just petting the sheep. Northern Regional Lt. Mark Bentzel said it was not a reasonable explanation for being inside somebody's barn at 3 in the morning.

Englar posted $10,000 bail Tuesday for his release from the York County Prison, a spokeswoman said.

PRIOR CASES

· 1997: An Adams County man pleaded guilty to cruelty to animals for sexually assaulting a live turkey in a restroom at the Wampler Foods plant in New Oxford. The man was fined $750.

· 1992: A carnival worker was charged with agricultural vandalism after authorities said he had sex with a ram at the York Fair. The charge was later dropped in a plea bargain.

thankfully this is on the other side of the state :)

Though I do remember quite a few years ago a Bethel Park (suburb of Pittsburgh) man made big news for screwing a dead deer in his living room

IowaStatePhiPsi 03-10-2005 05:25 PM

is he Amish?

As kddani was quick to point out, please note that the referenced cases were all on the PHILLY side of the state!

For those who don't know much about Pennsylvania, there's this big ole mountain range pretty much down the middle, keeping the Pittsburgh side free of the Philly side. It's almost like two different states.

My Sex Ed classes were VERY intense, and included knowing (and showing) how to use birth control as part of the grade. I graduated with over 700 people, and there were TWO pregnancies.

And no abused animals.

yeah, not much sex-ed in Iowa.

School I went to that had no sex-ed: 50 students per grade, roughly 25/26 girls, 5 mothers in graduating class.
School I went to with a little sex ed: 148 students in grade, rougly 78 to 82 females. 7 mothers in graduating class.
School I went to with moderate sex ed: 70s for graduating class, only 3 mothers.

Honey,

Where this incident happened is about 35 minutes from my parents house (near Harrisburg.)

Pennsytucky, anyone? I'm so embarrassed!

These kinds of incidents makes us look like we have nothing better to do than to have sex with farm animals.

Well, real Philly people consider anything west of Philadelphia to be part of Pittsburgh. :p So those people are your problem, not mine. :D

I sure hope that wasn't a reference to KENtucky... I can assure you, I have never heard of people have sex with ANIMALS here in the bluegrass state. I didn't even know that existed (and I've lived here my whole life) until a guy friend made a joke about it. Let's not perpetuate stereotypes.. Kentucky has a ton to offer; I've been to both sides of Pennsylvania.. many times, and would choose KY any day! :p

Oh come off it, it's happened. I'm sure someone somewhere in Kentucky has deflowered a barnyard (or zoo) animal. It's not all that uncommon.

And if you're going to get offended by a small dig on a state like this, then you need to grow some thicker skin if you're going to post around here :)

This would be good enough reason not to consider myself "real Philly people", then! :p

I am the original poster that you quoted in your response. What I meant by my response was the fact that in PA, the Appalachian Mountain chain runs through the middle of the state, separating the big cities (Philly and Pittsburgh.) The nickname that given to this area in between is "Pennsytucky."

I wasn't even talking about the sex with farm animals!

Any facts

Any facts/numbers/guesses on number of abortions?

Were most/all of the fathers classmates or older guys?
