Change/Removal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell

About damn time. Note there were few to no problems when Israel, Britain, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand Australia, etc allowed LGBT citizens to serve in their militaries. No complaints of unit cohesion going down. The FBI, CIA and Secret Service allow LGBT persons to serve and there's no complaint about them affecting the readiness of these organizations to protect the President of the United States. Some other stuff: Served in the closet Out to his unit No loss of unit cohesion with openly gay officers in Iraq Article highlighting issues service members face with DADT |

this is about as newsworthy as the bill to reinstate the draft. All hype, no result. I think it's stupid to have this policy in our military, but like the article said, they could only get 1 republican to sponsor this piece of legislation.

If other professional militaries can operate with the acceptance of homosexuals, I don't see why the US military can't as well. |
