Those kooky ladies with the red hats and purple dresses are on the Price is Right right now!

Shoot... I wish I could call my mom up and tell her to watch. She's involved in a chapter in the bay area.

They are most entertaining to observe.

One of my mother's friends is trying to get her to join. :o

My mom is in one. But they make her wear a pink hat because she is 49 and you have to be 50 to wear a red one according to the rules.

we had a chapter come eat at my restaurant the other day. I had never heard of it before, so when they walked in wearing hats, purple dresses and feather boas, we were all like :confused: The had a little girl(around 8 or 9) with them in a red ball-gown and she was adorable!!! What is the point of the Red Hat society? they had a pamphlet with them, but I was busy and didn't get to read it.

I think it's all about shouting out loud and proud that you're 50. I don't care if anyone knows how old I am but I am *not* gonna wear some goofy outfit out in public! If I joined, I'd maybe wear a little pin but not a red hat with a purple feather boa!

I know my mom's group doesn't go all out. they wear purple shirts and jeans with their hats. She does have a purple boa though. :p

It is mostly an excuse to hang out with her friends--"Oh but I have a meeting on Saturday night for the Red Hat Society" It is something for her to look forward to.
