Formal ideas

I was curious what other AST chapters do for Formal Themes? I'm planning my chapters formal and I'm stuck. I want it to be wonderful this year. The past two year's it's been the "Emerald Ball".

I think I might still call it that but I want some sort of theme to go with it. Let me know if any of you have any ideas.

Delta Delta Chapter just always stuck with the theme "Yellow Rose Ball" for our formal. We usually went to a local restaurant that had large rooms available, and used that, and decorated with anchors and yellow roses.

I believe it is traditional for chapters to call it the Yellow Rose. Since it is a formal, the theme usually revolves around our national history and symbols.

Perhaps "PsychTau" knows more details, though. I'm more knowledgable in the area of philanthropy :D !

We did the Yellow Rose Formal. We did some kind of yellow rose centerpiece, and finally invested in some nice bowls that are hand painted with yellow roses entwined around them, w/some water a votive and scattered petals, it is pretty classicly simple yet elegant. Last we did did some balloons (which I got totally tangled up in during the door prize give-a-way)

while i was in school, my chapter did a "yellow rose semi-formal" in the winter (early december) and the "emerald ball" in the spring. i thnk now they just do the emerald ball. no other themes, to avoid it from getting prommy. the only time it got themey was when it was the chapter's 10th anniversary.

Oh when my hcapter had it's 50th anniversary, our formal that year was black-tie. It was sooo nice.
