A second bill, sponsored by Rep. Brian Duprey, R-Hampden, seeks to outlaw abortion if a child carries an as-yet undiscovered gene determining homosexuality.

"Most people would agree that to kill someone just because that person might be gay would constitute a hate crime," Duprey said, in a news release arguing some mothers would abort their fetuses if they carried the so-called "gay gene."
WTF???????

heh. In the Iowa legislature there's a bill to add sexual orientation to the list of categories protected in public accomodation (public hospitals, schools, etc) and from discrimination in housing & employment. (bills can be found here)

This letter was in yesterday's Des Moines Register:

No tax support for gay agenda

The Iowa Association of School Boards is correct in opposing state Senator Joe Bolkcom's Senate File 126 that would expand civil-rights protection to include sexual orientation. This legislation provides homosexual, bisexual and gender-modification activists access to the schoolhouse door.

State Senator Matt McCoy's Senate File 150 provides the actual key to unlock the door. McCoy's legislation would make state certification of a school district contingent upon inclusion of sexual orientation in district educational programs.

The debate is not about civil rights or bigotry. It is about legislation requiring schools to engage in sexual indoctrination at taxpayer expense. It does not make sense to divert school resources from academics to sexual orientation.

Corydon.
...schools already engage in sexual indoctrination at taxpayer expense... every school I went to showed me videos and textbooks on heterosexuality.

Yes, but all the mainstream sex acts for heterosexuals save one apply to homosexuals also. Just use your imagination, and switch the genders around. If you can't extrapolate it . . . well it makes you wonder. :p
