Local philanthropy and service projects

Delta Chi Colony is sponsoring Eating Disorders Awareness Week (February 27 - March 5) at Christian Brothers University. Our local service project is the Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee.

We had two speakers on Thursday night, and in the morning we will be participating in the Celebrate everyBODY 5K. We also made newsletters with all events and support group listings, etc. and put them in each resident student's mailbox.

We will be handing out ribbons next week. We will also open The Every Body Is Beautiful Resource Collection on Thursday. It will be in a small area of the school library and will have pamphlets, books, articles, and other resources to help students who have eating disorders.

What local philanthropy / service projects has your chapter been working on lately? :)

I can't wait until your CEP! :D

Keep up the outstanding work!!!!!!!

Don't forget to include PR efforts (sample fliers, pictures of posters, speakers, etc.) used during the week as this is needed to quailify for the Martha Drouyor Belknap DeCamp Outstanding Collegiate Chapter Philanthropy Award!

Aww, thank you! :) I will be sure to include those things!

Little E 02-28-2005 02:31 PM

hum.... maybe that is why we were never so hot on those CEPs...I betcha we missed those fliers...

How's your Eating Disorder Week going? (I didn't word that the best...)

Locally, the Delta Delta Chapter supports The Glass Slipper Project, the Ron Santo Juvenile Diabetes Walk, Heart Walk, Crop Walk, and the Greater Chicago Food Depository just to name a few.

The Delta Upsilon Chapter supports the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Breast Cancer Walk, Heart Walk, Metropolitan Ministries in Downtown Tampa, and most recently, hurricane and tsunami relief funds.

Y'all are extremely involved! Great job. :)

PS - Is Glass Slipper the project where you get donations of dresses to give to high schoolers for prom?

ASTDD2002 03-02-2005 11:43 AM

Yes, it is! And during recruitment, our philanthropy night would be making jewelry to be donated to the project!

What a wonderful idea! Don't forget to place these in your philanthropy CEP!! What a great way to tie all your projects together. I hope you don't mind if I place your idea in the philanthropy e-manual! :)

I know this is a really old thread, but I just wanted to let everybody know that because of this project, the Delta Chi Colony (it was a week before we were initiated) won the Outstanding Service Project Award at Greek Awards! Woohoo! :)
