Big Crests - where to buy?
GC, I'm having a heck of a time finding large wall crests. These are the type that are full color reproductions of the crest made of lacqured wood, and measure about 3' high by 2' wide. Anyone know where I can find them?
PS - as my name says, I'm not a newbie. I'm hiding behind this name b/c this purchase is a secret! :) |
Is this for an NPHC organization?
|
You said it, Senusret. Anyway, no, this is not for an NPHC organization. I've seen them for other orgs, so I know they're out there.
I'd be open to other suggestions, as well. We're looking for something really nice - not an afghan pinned to the wall, as one retailer suggested. |
I've seen them too....I just looked in all of my bookmarks, though, and I haven't found anything yet. I'll keep looking.

large fraternity crests
NotANewbie-
This past week my chapter procured a large lighted escutcheon, about the size you wrote. It was made from a model taken from a fraternity website;the crest (escutcheon)consisted of over 75 individual pieces which were hand crafted. The workmanship was superb. The name of the comapany is: In the Cut Wood products. The proprietor 's name is George Brooks and his number is 410-566-0339. -Wolfman |
One of my favorite fraternities has a superb replica of their crest above their mantel...and I asked one of their alumns where it came from...turns out one year their pledge class was charged with making it! It's fantastic. A sword actually goes through it, and their motto is inscribed in greek below it.

Years ago, someone made one for us by using an overhead projector and one of those car decals. I would imagine that the plywood would have had to have been prepared first, though, then have someone sketch the crest over it?
FWIW, it was a Pika who did it. |
